Why are nursing vests so expensive!!!

I've just been having a look at nursing vests and was gobsmacked at the price of them.

Aren't they just a normal vest top with clips on the straps? They seem to be £15-£20 each which seems ridiculous to me.

And another thing is nowhere seems to do small sizes in them - I don't think a baggy nursing vest will be much good.

I disagree SweetPea, I only used my 'proper' feeding tops once or twice, I find it so much easier and less restrictive to wear normal tops with nursing bra and cheapy vest top underneath! I'm a G cup too, this works a dream.

I have giant boobs and always felt a bit exposed with just a drop vest on, I much preferred mamaway two layer tops. Got most of mine second hand on eBay and sold them on again when I was done, and didn't flash acres of veiny boobs at my dad when I was feeding in them. Oddly, wasn't so bothered about strangers. Just my dad. And my in laws...

I have been Angry at the price of these too!
I am planning to breastfeed and am due in July so likely I will be wearing vests and cardigans a lot in the early days. No way am I paying £15+ for one vest. (When I will still need to buy nursing bras as well)
I've bought a pack of 3 maternity vests for £9.99 from new look to wear through the pregnancy then plan to DIY them into nursing ones like this and do the same with cheap primary vests if I need more than 3, as I will be buying & wearing the nursing bras anyway.

Featherbag it does seem to be just me. Maybe I was doing it wrong.

Primark all the way.. I also hear that from mid March, they will be stocking maternity nightwear, tights and lingerie! happy days..

I have a couple of the h&m tops and they're really good. I agree that the mothercare tops are rubbish - I bought one and is impossible to feed discreetly in it, so I can only wear it around the house!

I use the vest down/top up method most of the time - it is very easy to feed discreetly with this method and you can wear your usual tops. I bought a load of strappy vest tops from Sainsbury's (they come in a pack of two); the quality is great and they are ideal for this method.

I used the vest down, top up with a nursing bra method when I was feeding DS. I had vests from primark with adjustable straps making it easy to pull them down, then you could wear any top of your choice instead of being restricted. Gets you back into your normal clothes sooner.

Vest down, top up for sure. Cheap Primark vests for a quid or so, with a nice loose tee over the top (I'm thinking boxy/batwing styles, I have loads of those already). I have huge knockers so don't want to feel exposed, I really struggled with clothes (and BF!) last time so hoping to feel more comfortable in 'normal' tops.
