The advice I've read is shop bought is fine, homemade is not. The shop bought one will be made with additives instead of raw egg.

Yes but from a jar e.g. Hellmans.

Mayo is fine if it comes from a jar and is not home made as it will have raw eggs in it. It is not recommended to eat fillings for sandwiches from delis as you don't know how long they have been in the fridge. (shop bought ones are fine as long as in date)

Well, the first thing is that you are grown adult. You are allowed to eat anything (sorry, bit of a bugbear of mine).

In terms of advice, you are advised not to eat homemade mayonnaise as it contains raw egg, but the sort from a jar is fine.

However, homemade mayo freshly made just before eating with UK lion marked eggs is also fine (though strictly against the advice) because the hens are vaccinated against salmonella. I wouldn't eat it if it had been hanging around though.

I also would agree on not eating deli fillings that have been hanging around. It's actually food sources and storage that are far more likely to be a problem than the type of food itself.
