Snuzpod, troll bedside crib etc

Anyone got/used either of these? We have a superking divan bed which is too high for the cheap option of sidecarring a cot, so have to splash out on something like these...

I like the look of the snuzpod, but worried zipping and unzipping the mesh might wake the baby? can you tell I have a toddler who wakes at the drop of a pin?!

I quite fancied the chicco one, just because I had a bed nest and while it was brilliant next to the bed, it really didn't travel all that well. Of course, I wasn't having any more, so I sold it. Will absolutely have to have another bedside crib though. My porker fitted in the bed nest until about five months, so would quite like a bigger one this time and was considering a baby bay too.

My Espresso SnuzPod arrived to the office yesterday. I wanted to climb into it myself last night it's so cute!!! and it's SO light as well..

I'm really really keen on the snuzpod. Those of you who have seen it, do you get a gap down the side or do the two mattresses but up together?

ChicaMomma · 04/03/2014 16:40

Do you mean a gap between the mattress in your own bed, and the Snuzpod mattress?

Fairypants · 04/03/2014 16:42

Yes, I'm trying to imagine it and the frame sticks out a but more than the mattress on our bed so imagine there will be a gap of at least that much between the two mattresses?

ChicaMomma · 04/03/2014 16:54

It seemed pretty negligible to me- like 1cm or something? i guess it depends on your bed frame too! But the key thing is that the baby is at arms length.

i was completely sold on it I must say- it is just so light and easy to move around the house. And it looks great! I would imagine, also, that there would be a healthy second hand market for them so you'd likely get 50% of the cost back once you were finished with it.

The front wall of the snuzpod has a plastic insert inside it that acts like a bridge when you lower the front wall, so there's never a gap if that makes sense :-)

I believe I was one of the first to have a snuzpod (took delivery early December) after a delay was due to be delivered 31st October. My baby arrived early so had to stick him in a Moses basket for the first 3 weeks til it arrived. It was worth the wait though as he sleeps like a log in it. We have a very high kingsize bed and it isn't quite as high as our mattress on the highest setting but that isn't a problem. I have never used it as a stand alone so can't comment on noisy zips etc we never fitted the side panel just have it up to the bed. Would buy it again without a doubt it's great.

I've been using the Snuzpod for a few months now and have written a review on it if anyone wants to see it in action... www.itstartedwithasquish.com/the-little-green-sheep-snuzpod-review/

ViviPru · 05/06/2014 21:59

Squish! I read your review only today... I was already pretty set on Snuzpod but your blog decided me. In fact I was just about to post a link here to your review!

Squishblog · 05/06/2014 23:56

ViviPru glad to hear! :) It really is fab... probably just as useful as the others on the market but I love how sturdy (and pretty!) it is... the storage below it is so useful too. It's been a proper godsend!

ZenNudist · 06/06/2014 00:09

Ah you've decided on the snuzpod. I love the troll one. It's sturdy enough that I lean on it to get close to ds2. It's great. It's easy to move to make the bed but stays firmly next to bed at night. The crib side can make a noise as you pull it up into place but it's easy to do in the dark etc.

Just fed ds to sleep ... Again tonight, about to scootch him across into the cot. It beats a Moses basket, and it's a nice size to last til 6months even with bigger babies.

I also cover the cot side which is wood with a rolled up blanket when the side is down.

RoseberryTopping · 06/06/2014 07:40

Those who have a troll cot, can I be really cheeky and ask if you could take a picture of the instructions for me?! We've been lent one but no instructions to go with it and I can't figure it out myself!

starfish1982 · 04/07/2014 11:50

Hey guys just wondered if anyone could help me work out what sheets fit the snuzpod? We've just bought one as our week old baby boy is in a moses basket and it's a right pain dragging him in and out of it at nights.

So we emergency bought the snuzpod yesterday (and it was delivered this morning - can't believe it!). But I can't work out what sheets fit? It says on the mattress you need 360mm x 805mm but the cot sheets are 60 x 120 and the moses basket sheets are way too small.

Any ideas?
Thanks

squizita · 04/07/2014 14:02

I was wondering about using a moses basket on a base adjusted to a similar height to the bed.
Is that safe etc'?

Otherwise considering a snuzpod.

Slightly different but I have a sleepyhead and its great! I put it on the bed next to me when it's just the two of us...or when dp is in bed I put it in his cot next to the bed - we assembled the cot with one side missing but there was a few cm gap between the mattress and my bed mattress and without the sleepyhead I wouldn't feel safe using it that way. Currently he is asleep in it on the sofa next to me.
