Not feeling much movement at 24 weeks

I felt flutters sporadically from about 17 weeks and for the last couple of weeks I've felt what is more like wind, but only two or three times a day, nothing like I thought I would.

At my 20 week scan the sonographer mentioned baby was very active and was I feeling lots but I said no, not really!
My placenta is not anterior but I do have a very high bmi over 40 Blush so I'm not sure if that is affecting it?

it can go in fits and starts, in a few weeks time you will most likely be feeling more regularly movement, proper kicks.

I'm 23 weeks and some days I feel baby constantly and other days it may just be once or twice. I wouldn't worry too much yet xx

Yes, it could affect it.

Try not to worry, movement can be very sporadic to start with. It's only from around now that they really recommend watching the movements. See if you get more of a pattern over the next week or two Smile

Thank you! Funnily enough I felt a lot more throughout the night than I have before, typical!

Yes high bmi can affect it i believe, i am high bmi and atmy 20 week couldnt feel a thing but he was very active, i didnt feel any movement until atleast 24 weeks it was horrible because everyone kept asking me if i cld feel anything from about 16 weeks!! :-(

PenguinsDontEatKale · 03/02/2014 09:30

Yes, people do like to freak you out by asking early. I think that there are a limited number of topics to ask a pregnant woman and people think it is polite to sound interested!

The reality is that very few women feel much movement that early. Many women are around their 20 week scan before they get much, and factors like an anterior placenta or high BMI that cushion the impact can make it much later.

Your spot on penguins, its a case of what should i talk about i know....then they reel of the usual lol.

It was hars tho as i kept thinking something was wrong and this was within the family too. My dsil has had two children who are both under 2 yrs old so her recent experience is all they draw on! Little frustrating.

I do wonder whether perhaps i had felt movement but not realised what it was.

Don't worry, as you said all was fine on scan.
There might be many factors as to why you can't feel things : position of placenta, the fact that you might have your mind on something else/ be sleeping when baby is making noticeable movements, or you might be feeling movements but not recognising them as such (ie thinking they are wind, growing pains, ...)
