We are ttc and whilst it is a long while off, trying to think ahead to sleeping arrangements. We have two bedrooms and our dd will be at least three by the time I ever gove birth, if not older.

As such, dc2 will probably stay in with us much longer than the six months dd did.

We have a large master (old old terrace, alcove either side of chimney and a big bay window). I wondered if itd be nice to have a sort of sectioned off bit for dc2 woth cot and storage and some pics on the wall - has anyone ever done this?

my DS2 was in with us for getting on a year - he never cared what the decor was.....
why make more work and expense?

Maybe wait and see how things are when dc is a bit older, your plans may change and a differently decorated room might be trickier to sell. When dc is 2ish he or she might have a view in the style if it's going to be a longer-term situation.

I actually think it's a lovely idea.

I also think it's a really nice idea Smile

Im more concerned that it will become a longer term arrangement, especially dont want eother dcs sleep being bothered by the other one Grin

I wasnt thinking of redecorating the whole.room, more clearing an alcove and putting cot and storage there (possibly using the storage to section the area), and making it a bit.of a baby / toddler corner.

If the gap is much more than 4/5 yrs or they are different sex, we will in the very distant future look to sell and buy a three bed, but our current flat needs work to bring it up to a decent saleable condition.

I think it's a lovely idea. Ikea have some screen/room dividers if that's any help?

It is - actually like the look if the expedit shelving units which would fill with storage and divide the are off.

Ooh it really could work!

It sounds like a nice thing to do if it would please you to do it.

The baby won't give a shiny.

OP I think its also a lovely thought :-). When pregnant with DS, we only had the 1 bedroom. DH painted a lovely mural on 1 side of the alcove/adjacent wall to try and create a space for the baby. Looked lovely tbh, so if you want to section on a part of your room I'd say go for it. No the baby wouldn't care less but you wouldnt put them in an undecorated room/badly painted etc. this is about creating a welcoming space for you and your baby. Have fun deciding what to buy :-)

What a nice idea. I don't think I'd paint or wallpaper a little area in case I wanted to rearrange the furniture or put it back to grown up use. Some pictures or those vinyl wall stickers would be nice. We've used the stickers in the nursery. I test them every now or then by peeling a corner & they come off without damaging the paint work.

No no, wouldnt expect the baby to appreciate it, but in ny head, itd be nice for the baby to have its own space in the house.
