Hi all, it's my first time on here and just hoping for a bit of reassurance.

September last yr I discovered I was pregnant and was over the moon. At 6 weeks I noticed very slight brown spotting (1 day only). I rang the EPU who said unless I was bleeding heavily & had bad cramps I wouldn't be seen. Weeks 7-9 I started vomiting/nausea etc which I presumed was normal and I plodded along thinking everything was fine. At my 11scan I was told there was no baby and the sac looked about 6week. I was handed a leaflet on missed miscarriage but in conversation 'blighted ovum' was mentioned too confused though I was in no state to question. Anyway I was told to go away and come back in 2 weeks and 'I would probably miscarry naturally' in that time. I wanted the operation asap but was told it was 'procedure'. I miscarried at home 6 days later :(

Now I am pregnant again (yay). However just like last time I have noticed some spotting (last sunday 7+1) and now follwed by increased sickness n nausea. I'd like to think these symptoms are a positive sign but they weren't last time :(. Again I rang the EPU and again they have said there's nothing they can do. I do have an early scan booked (2 days time) thanks to my gp.
Sorry if this is all a bit long winded but I am desperate for some advice/reassurance. I know spotting can be normal but in light of last time I'm struggling to be positive :( ....has anyone else been through this? I would really appreciate any answers x

I know how totally scary and nerve wracking this can be (I had two miscarriages, at about 5 and 6 weeks). But spotting doesn't have to mean the worst news. It's fairly common to spot in early pregnancy. In my current one I spotted (but also had proper fresh red blood bleeding) between 6-9 weeks due to a subchorionic hematoma. I'm now 20 weeks pregnant with a healthy baby girl! The hematoma is still there and I may have more bleeding but so far my little one is doing very well and I'm staying positive.
It's great that you have an early scan booked - I think it's cruel not to examine somebody with previous miscarriage, even if it's just to give them information and reassurance.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

Thank you so much for your reply. And congrats on your pregnancy. At 20 weeks you are doing very well.

I too think its cruel that the nhs seem to be reluctant to help. I know there's nothing they can do to stop a mc but unnecessary stress cannot do mums much good either. I'm quite fed up with them to be honest.
Thanks again for your reply

After three miscarriages I assumed the worst when I started spotting at 6 weeks, followed by heavy bleeds at 6 +3 and 10 weeks. I still can't believe that DD2 is here six months later

Just to reassure you I had a massive bleed at 7 weeks pregnant, honestly I've never seen so much blood, I also passed a massive golf ball sized something, well obviously I was convinced that was it but when I had a scan a few days later my baby was still there, heart beating away. I continued to spot intermintently until 16 weeks when it just stopped, my baby is now a happy and healthy 14 month old. So although bleeding is really scary (especially given your history) it doesn't always mean something bad is happening; oh and I did read that it's quite common to have spotting around the times your period would be due. Good luck for your scan I hope all goes well for you. X

Thanks ladies.....I have totally convinced myself that it's all gone wrong again simply bcoz of the similarities to previous but it really helps hearing positive stories :)
I just want Friday to hurry up!!! X
