I know I probably seem a tad odd asking this but my boyfriend and I have only been together a few months and I am pregnant. We are both over joyed about this as we are very much in love and have discussed the long term future before we found out I was pregnant. I'm literally like just a month pregnant but can I still have sex? I know you Doctor's and Midwives say it's safe but I'm so scared of causing a miscarriage. I don't want to push my boyfriend away when he wants to get intimate but I'm so scared of what it might do to the developing embryo

Haha, sorry for laughing but this sounds exactly like me! Me and my boyfriend have only been together a few months but are in love and happy to be pregnant as well. I worried about this at first but have since asked about it and done it so here are my two cents;

Sex CANNOT cause a miscarriage. Access to your baby is completely sealed off by your closed cervix and it's very well protected in the womb and by the sac. So have as much sex as you want to :)

However, the case with me in particular has been that sex has caused a bit of bleeding due what I now believe to be a "friable cervix" which is basically a sensitive cervix that is easily irritated. So now have very gentle sex and that seems to have done the trick. Hopefully, you're luckier than me but if this does happen, remember what I've said and don't assume the worst but do inform your midwife.

Shag away dear, it is perfectly safe for baby. You won't be getting much after it is born.

My midwife recently told me that she had heard via one of her students about new research suggesting that sex in early pg can actually lower the chance of miscarriage.

I thanked her for her advice whilst trying to keep the morning sickness down!!

Go for it!!

Go for it while you still want to - my boobs have been far too sore to even contemplate it for the last couple of weeks! But we didn't have any problems before that...

It is safe, but in the first trimester it can cause some bleeding/spotting due to increased blood flow to your cervix.

Perfectly fine, shag away to your hearts content

Perfectly safe- but do keep a sick bowl handy in case of emergencies.

Go for it while you still want to/can do/ don't require a pulley system to maneuver into position
