When do you speak to your mw about your birth plan? And what is involved?

Not worth it really until about 34 weeks I would say, as so much can change in a pregnancy.

What is involved- as much or as little as you'd like. If you have a serach for past threads, lots of people have posted examples Smile

I'm 40+5 and its still not been discussed. I keep meaning to bring it up but appointments are always running late and I feel bad taking too long. I've written a couple of thoughts in my notes but will take it as it comes

34 weeks where I live.

IME it never happens unless you either insist, or let something drop in one of your appointments that makes the midwife worried that you'll be difficult.

RightInTheKisser · 27/01/2014 20:59

I had a useless midwife who never once mentioned the word birth plan.

I did some research online and wrote one. When in labour my midwife walked in and sat and read it before she did anything else. She told me after it was really useful as I had some quite specific things on there.

It was my "homework" to do for my 37 week appt. And we'll be discussing it then. She didn't want to discuss it till after my classes.

LadySnapcase · 27/01/2014 21:11

I was told it would be at 37 week appointment, after some classes. Then I went into labour at 37+1, so, yeah...no plan and had only attended one class. As it happens it all went a bit wonky so wouldn't have been anything like my plan anyway! Worth jotting a few bits down early Smile
