Mid pregnancy , my boobs had gone up 2 sizes to an f cup.. Got measured today for nursing bra ( due next week), now I'm an e cup.. How is this possible they have shrunk, if they are supposed to be getting ready to produce milk?

Because boobs are evil and taunt you by changing size all the time in pregnancy. I wore a g all through pregnancy bought a nursing bra in an hh cup thinking that would be ok, nope ended up double kk!!! after wearing an ahh bra for a week after the birth, they have settled down to an hh now, I think...

It might be because your ribcage has got smaller due to baby dropping? (I know the ribcage measurement is not the cup size, but they are related!)

It depends who measures you: for example, mother care will make it up almost entirely, do they can get you to buy one of their limited range - at the end of my pregnancy, I was a 34hh, they tried to get me to buy a 38e, which rode up at the back, gave me double boob at the front!

I'd use the bra intervention (on the style and beauty board) rules, then order a load online, and return the rejects. Nursing bra shop (an online shop) is great. Grin

Awww thankyou . I used marks and spencer both times... Just hope its nothing to do with the boobs not producing milk...

I read somewhere that boob size doesn't determine amount of milk produced

Plus squeezing nipples will produce drops of colostrum in later stages of preg - your body knows what to do

Breast size makes no difference to the volume of milk to make, you'll be glad to know. Generally, smaller boobs increase in size more than larger ones, but most of the variation between boon size is due to the fatty tissue, not the glandular parts that actually make the milk (I was reading about this yesterday!)

I'm not surprised to hear that it was M&S - if you check out the bra intervention threads, you'll see they consistently put women in the wrong size, using dubious methods, so only you can judge whether you've shrunk! Do your normal bras feel looser than usual?

But whatever you do, don't worry, your breasts will make lots if lovely milk when the time comes. Pregnancy just does weird things to them!
