Hi ladies, I'm 29 weeks and I worked my last day at work today.

I've had horrific sickness since 5 weeks calmed down at 17 but still sick every day. Along with this I have a trapped nerve in my bum lol and SPD it's all got on top of my and my job involved standing on my feet 40 hours a week for 6 days, it's took it toll so I decieded to leave ealry and try and rest the last few month before I have baby.

I was soooooo looking forward to it, then today I'm feeling a little sad and low. I'm so use to being run off my feet I don't know how it will be over next few month.

If you left ealry how did u find it.

I'm starting to think I've made the wrong choice lol

I stopped at 32 weeks.

I had awful sickness, vomited every day and felt nauseous nearly all the time.
And SPD.

I was just knackered and wanted to be able to do my own thing.

I loved it.

I slept, I pottered around the house, read books, did things like sorting through recipes, filling the freezer with nice home cooked meals, slept some more.
I look back on it very fondly.

I went at the earliest opportunity, ie, whatever the legal limit was. We had to renovate our house before the baby arrived and it was impossible to do it when I was working 40hrs a week and my travel time was 15hrs a week on top. I didn't regret it. But I also knew I probably wasn't going back which I didn't.

SPD is a killer I had that with my 2nd pregnancy. Only rest helps. I wouldn't work unless it was critical with that.

I was signed off from 26 weeks in last pregnancy due to SPD. I couldn't have worked longer as I was in so much pain sitting in a chair.

It was a long uncomfortable 4 months but I did get lots of time to myself which with a 17 month old and currently 26 weeks pregnant a would love some of again.

I stopped at 18 weeks as I have high blood pressure and bipolar and hg. It's not been easy not working (my contract ended and I am not making a push to get work) but it is much nicer than having to go to an office every day! I have a routine now and the time away from work to think and plan for our baby. Life is much nicer. I have taken up knitting again and am learning how to sew. Fun :)

ouryve · 24/01/2014 19:18

I was signed off at 16 weeks because I had constant dizzy spells and over-whelming fatigue (undiagnosed HMS). I did a lot of sleeping.

Stopped at 30 weeks. I was a teacher and had planned to work till 37/8 weeks but the class I had that year were HAAAAARD work (teacher who took over from me left teaching for good Shock) and I thought "I don't need to be here".

It was very stressful and I had children who thought nothing of throwing chairs (junior school) so I put my baby's needs first.

So I ended a term before I had originally planned and don't regret it at all.

Thanks ladies feel better reading these post, I'm not very good with change, every thing seems overwhelming at the minute. I start work at 7 in the morning will NOT miss scraping ice off my car for sure. I suppose it is the last chance I have some me time before baby is here. Got lots to do around house I think it's just going to take some getting use too xxx

I'm 14 weeks and still waiting for ms to piss off, I'm Also a teacher and constantly exhausted so finding doing my job hard! I'm taking maternity at 29 weeks and it can't come quick enough... Today re affirmed my choice dealing with hormonal year 11s, stress I don't want to have at 36 weeks pg! We are moving across country so got loads to do before due date!

BEEwitched · 24/01/2014 23:09

I'm stopping at 32 weeks - I've been signed off for 3 months now, I hope to go back part-time for 8 weeks and then I'm off on maternity.

Where I'm from you stop work automatically 34 weeks and I'd planned on sticking to that even living in the UK, but now that things have been so difficult I'm definitely looking to just go and not worry about it anymore.

livingzuid · 25/01/2014 07:37

sweetpea I know what you mean it's a very odd situation. I had to go onto unemployment benefit for the first time in my life and refuse work just so I can rest (I am not in the UK thank god so I receive a good deal). But it's very very strange and I feel like I am cheating even though I am under doctors orders. I had an interview at my old work and really did not want the job and was so relieved to not get it - but feeling guilty at the same time as I could have tried so much harder but didn't want to! Aargh.

I appreciated you posting and to see everyone's responses. We have to look after ourselves first at the end of the day is my realisation.

It's great to have some head space and think about what to do for your baby. To have some time for yourself before the arrival. There's not going to be many opportunities beforehand so we should make the most of it :)

LGandPandnow3 · 27/01/2014 09:56

Hi - I too went off the earliest I could. Whilst still teaching I had: thrush, piles, cystitus and was absolutely shattered and stressed! I moved too .. And a 2 hour commute every morning and night would've been awful. ( See - still justifying it to myself!)

But in answer to your question it was the best thing I did - because most of the above symptoms disappeared almost immediately as I could rest!

I have also realised how important it was for me to separate the 'change' from being busy in full time employment to getting used to being off - by myself and then the final 2nd change of labour and a baby!! Making the distinction helped as I think I would have struggled working to the end then suddenly having a new baby with no transition.

G luck! But sounds like it might benefit you too....

not2nitedarling · 27/01/2014 10:05

I finished work 10 weeks early. My dh took a week off and we decorated the living room and our bedroom.
I was shattered and v uncomfortable and huge belly!!!! I also knew I would not return to that job so it was an easy decision for me.
my dd was born week 33 so I didn't have as much time to wait as I thought!!!!

Gd luck and enjoy the nesting process.. is it your first?
