Morning Sickness

Hi
I'm 5 weeks pregnant with my first baby and already I feel the need to throw up all the time. Anyone have any suggestions which don't involve ginger as that turned my stomach before I was pregnant?

Thanks

Room temperature Lemonade/7UP did wonders for my upset stomach. It was the only thing I could keep down sometimes Smile

Ice lollies/ice cubes were amazing for me!

I found just eating was good. Little and often. If you can't keep anything down I guess none of these will help, but if you can, here are some random ideas:

Boiled sweets are good because they last and cover that nasty taste in your mouth without filling you up (Tesco does nice pear drops which are a bit acidic/not too cloying).

I found citrus good (chopped up orange).

Protein seemed to fend off the sickness for slightly longer than toast alone: a bit of hard boiled egg, chicken, or cheddar on a piece of toast. For some reason I couldn't stomach butter or marg, so had that otherwise dry.

Grapes were OK.

Crackers... Hmm, that kind of thing anyway.

I went completely off anything creamy, meaty, and most vegetables, but fruit was generally good (pears, plums,...).

Frozen peas or tinned sweetcorn were OK, or raw carrot or courgette, boiled potatoes can work too (though they are horrible to throw up).

Good luck! I know it's awful but it does get better. Lots of sleep is also good: just try to sleep through the worst hours if you can.

Crackers and crispbreads, rich tea biscuits and that kind of thing to nibble on regularly. I still can't bear tea but decaf coffee is ok. Room temperature water is better than cold water. Also a few rhubarb and custard sweets or any hard boiled sweets to take away the yucky taste in your mouth. I'm 18 weeks now and it has got easier. Being tired always makes my sickness worse so get as much rest as you can.
Congrats on your pregnancy!

Ready salted crisps and mcdonalds chips were the order of the day today.
Thanks for the lemonade tip.:)

Salt and vinegar crisps and any kind of bread. Have you tried the bands that you wear around your wrist? I find that getting a bit of fresh air helps and getting as much rest as possible. Sniffing a lime or a lemon can also help sometimes.

I hope you feel better soon!
