Random gagging??

Does anyone else experience this? I've had it since I first got pregnant whilst brushing teeth, still happens even now and I'm 15wks. But I randomly gag in the morning, just before I have something to eat and now it seems over the last week I've been doing it just over nothing it seems! Does anyone have a remedy or do I just have to wait for it to take its course?

I'm six weeks and have this. It sucks. Have no pearls of wisdom but hoping someone out there might have!

aroha77 · 22/01/2014 22:54

Had it all the time until I started an anti emetic!

SinkyMalinks · 23/01/2014 08:39

I didn't have (much) morning sickness, but still have this at 32 weeks..

Good luck!

Mummytobe2014 · 23/01/2014 08:52

I didnt have any morning sickness but gag everytime my toothbrush goes near my mouth, i had a pretty sensitive gag reflex anyway but now its even worse i am surprised i can even brush my teeth. It has on occasion made me sick Sad

Hellymummy · 23/01/2014 09:29

I had this too!! I didn't have any morning sickness then about 12 weeks I started this random gagging/ heaving!! It came from nowhere, didn't find the reason but then after 2/3 weeks it went!!!!

fluffyraggies · 23/01/2014 10:36

Yes, random gagger here too Grin

I hate to say it but i'm still gagging at silly stuff at 40+3!

During tooth brushing, any random smell, looking at the cat litter tray (even when it's spotless), when i cough, when i clean my ears, if i have a poo, bits of food in the sink, the kitchen bin, holding a pen in my mouth, when DHs farts ....... bla bla bla

  • sympathy.
fluffyraggies · 23/01/2014 10:40

My DD (15) thinks it's hilarious, btw.

I think i'm doing it silently, but she always laughs and shouts 'you ok mum?' if she's in the house and i'm gagging away at something. It makes me laugh too, all watery eye'd Grin

bugoven · 23/01/2014 15:20

I have been doing this since even before I knew I was pregnant. My OH and close friends think it is hilarious, others look really alarmed. I have developed a talent of doing it mid sentence and pretwnding nothjng happened.

commsgirl · 23/01/2014 15:27

I'm 33 weeks and still gagging. Sorry!

Most entertaining is trying to cover it up in important work meetings.

FoxMulder · 23/01/2014 15:59

Yes, when I exercise weirdly. Am 32 weeks.

FoxMulder · 23/01/2014 16:00

Oh wait, not 'when I exercise weirdly' but 'weirdly, when I exercise'! Grin

mixi82 · 23/01/2014 18:02

Haha Fox

So glad I'm not the only one gagging away. Even the thought of brushing my teeth bringing a it on. If I see a slimey but of food in the sink or similar then it'll set me off. I worry in going to be doing it when I clean baby's nappy and when he/she gets sick. I gag at anyone being sick and when I used to clean up after baby brother tears ago I used to gag at the smell of sick and mopping it up. Hope it'll all change when baby gets here!

So so glad someone else does this too! Grin

moobaloo · 23/01/2014 21:00

Me too! Even when nausea and ms stopped it has continued! Better brushing teeth than I was but it was really bad for a while. Still at some smells or tastes or textures, gagged on a turkey sandwich on Boxing Day, and they're my favourite!

Glad it's not just me! X

imisssleepandwine · 23/01/2014 21:41

I feel your pain. I find eating something as soon as I get up (or get DH to bring you something I bed) helps a little. I gag much move on an empty stomach. I find snacking often during the day makes it a lot better. Raw ginger tea is also good.

Today I thought people shouldn't be aloud smoke while on the street every time I pass a smoker I gag!

Hellymummy · 23/01/2014 22:15

I found my gagging much worse when I was hungry or had not ate a lot! It's a hard place tho coz once you gag you don't feel like eating but then if you don't gagging gets worse!!!!!!

Harryhart · 24/01/2014 01:45

This has been my main symptom for two weeks now (I'm 11 weeks). It's all day, mainly before and after eating food. My husband thinks it's funny, although not in a mean way. I make it look like I'm yawning when it happens in public. It's exhausting and annoying! Glad I'm not the odd one out!

BEEwitched · 24/01/2014 11:28

Yep, I had intense nausea and a really strong gagging reflex for the first 4 months of my pregnancy - it was so bad I sometimes spent over half an hour over the loo, and I had really sore tummy muscles.

My gag reflex is a bit overactive, anyway, but this was just horrid; my own lovely version of morning sickness!

crecia30 · 22/04/2020 00:58
