Midwife and consultant care?

I'm 22 weeks. Had a consultant appointment at the hospital today, requested by my midwife. Had a GTT last week due to two episodes of glucose in my urine, though the results of that were fine. Also had two thyroid checks (due to one previous borderline result before pregnancy) which have also been fine.

Consultant asked for more blood to be taken today for thyroid, and another thyroid check at 28 weeks along with another GTT. I feel a little confused as all results have been fine so far, so I guess I should be happy I'm receiving this level of care, but I'm just wondering if anyone else has had an experience like this? Makes me feel a little nervous that I'm not understanding something about my health, as I have no actual issues with any of my test results?!

Also - the consultant wants to see me again at 30 weeks.

I would guess your results may be borderline so they are keeping a very close eye on you so they can start treatment promptly if it's needed.

Our hospital runs an antenatal endocrinology clinic weekly for those of us with thyroid and/or diabetes problems.

I have under active thyroid and had shared care (some appts with the consultant, some with the MW in the GP surgery) when pg with DD and it was fine Smile

Good luck with your pregnancy!

Yes I'm a bit like this. I had a couple of borderline results at the very beginning that they wanted the consultant to check - I felt that once you are on their list you just stay on it. I was nervous at first but 29 weeks now and am just appreciating the level of care and attention I have had. You could always call your midwife and discuss your concerns with them.

Ah okay - this makes sense. I'm not complaining or anything - I'm quite impressed actually, as these aren't the kind of stories you hear about NHS maternity care. The borderline results/staying on their lists scenario makes sense, thank you.
