IBS during pregnancy

I'm six months pregnant and have had IBS for about 10 years. It vanished during early pregnancy, when I had four months of almost constant vomiting and nausea. Then the morning sickness ended and I felt great. However, in the past fortnight, I've found that I have to eat something, however small, every couple of hours or else the nausea returns and I'm starving to the point of being snappy and emotional.

In the past few days, my tummy's been 'off' - bloated, windy, a bit loose. I'm blaming it on the satsumas that I was snacking on, but I haven't had any today and it isn't much better. I'm also frustrated because I can't do any of the things that normally help to settle the IBS - hot bath, HWB, sleeping on my front etc.

Any ideas? I have to find something to snack on that isn't either fruit or wheat based, I suppose - hard when I'm at my desk all day. Bah.

I'm 37 weeks and suffer IBS.
It's been fine up until about 34 weeks then like you it's been playing up.
I've cut out bread and cereal and that's worked a little.
When the pain has got bad I've chewed a windeez tablet and that has seemed to help.

I found the same, my IBS settled down in early pregnancy then flared up again after about 20 weeks. GP said it's due to expanding womb putting pressure on the gut. Have you tried Colpermin mint capsules? I took twice my regular dose (ie. two three times a day) and that really seemed to help. Also eating bananas and food with soluble fibre like avocados and white crusty bread, and lying down on my left side seems to help. Hope you feel better soon OP!

I was diagnosed by my GP with IBS but knew it was something I was eating that set it off. Had food intolerances test done privately and it was milk the whole time. It's worth looking into if you've been checked for coeliac etc. and nothing shows up. have stopped taking dairy for about 2 years now and no IBS and dermatitis on my hands has completely disappeared so no more steroid creams either!!
