Same situation here - DS is 2.5 and DC2 is due next month. He's a good walker - albeit at his own pace - but I'm going to get a double. He may well not want to walk if his sibling is being pushed - envisaging a bit of jealousy! - and if I need to go at my pace rather than his a buggy will be easier. Leaning towards the Mountain Buggy Duet at the moment, but open to other recommendations!

I'm also in a dilemma as I love my buggy but DS will be 2 exactly so I think I need a double. My friend swears by her buggy pod but they seem to get mixed reviews. Everyone else I know has a Phil n Teds What's the mountain buggy like? Is it side by side?

DD is 2.2 and I've just got the Oyster Max which really easily converts from a single to double as an extra seat just clips on.

I figured there are certain times when I appreciate her being strapped down.....!

Why don't you try putting a buggy board on your pram now and see how your DS gets on with it. You could get away with pram/sling/buggy board.

I find there are still some times like PastaandCheese when I need DS to be strapped in.
Think about what you want from a buggy,
Easy to fold,
Ability to fit on buses,
Will both children need to sleep in it,
Do you need a big shopping basket,
Do you need it to go off road.

I found I didn't like in-line pushchairs. I tried a few but found it too difficult getting my newborn in and out of the lower seats. He ended up with a few bumped heads! It was also awkward to get my toddler into the lower seats, especially if he was reluctant to get in.
In the end I went for a BJCM double, I wished I had got it from day one so my baby could have benefitted from the carrycot. My boys are now 3.1 yrs and 21 months I am just finding the Buggy a bit heavy to push. They are both very tall and the 3yo has outgrown the harness.
I am thinking of getting a micralite twofold which has a building buggy board and the ability to have a second seat.

I did get a double for the same age gap as you have, it didn't get used that much bit when it was used it was so helpful. I bought a nipper 360 second hand, there were a lot on ebay that hadn't seen a lot of use, there are occasions when you need to get stuff done or the older one is tired or ill and they want to sit down. I avoided buggy boards because I have a long stride and get back ache.

Between DC's 2 and 3 there was a smaller gap so either I used the double or had DC3 in a really comfortable sling and DC2 in the buggy, this combo was good for shopping and trips where there is not enough space for a double.

At some point I had a phil and ted, but no one enjoyed sitting in the back seat, plus if you go anywhere muddy the one in the back is close to the wheels, even with the mudguards on it wasn't ideal imo (accidentally wheeling through dog poo with a small one in the back seat was NOT a great moment!).

Thankyou for the advice!! The dog poop comment made me laugh Wink

I am swaying towards a buggy board first - trips will be local so preschool/shop/park...no buses to contend with!! I do have a sling so yes I could always opt for this in the nice weather too. If it all goes pear shaped I will have a look at the suggestions here for doubles Smile

My dd will be just 2 on my due date so I'm getting a second hand double from a friend. It's a Phil & Teds and she said it was great to use with the baby in the cocoon so easy to get in and out. I don't think I'll use it much but it'll he good when dd is tired or it's pouring with rain and I just want to get out of the house for a bit.

I'm also going to get a buggy board for my Bugaboo Cameleon but this can't be used with the carry cot which is very annoying.
