Just for fun: What are your nicknames for your baby bumps?

Dd1 was "Keith" as we were sick of people asking what we would call her!!

Bump2 is currently Bodger the Lodger - Bodge for short!

Pea.

He's now a very active 2 and sometimes gets referred to as Runnerbean Smile

My Dsis referred to her bump as The Blimp.

enormouse · 19/01/2014 21:11

We called this one ginormo. As we found out that he's on the 90th/95th centile for growth according to the scans. We've picked out a proper name for him though but ginormo seems to have stuck somehow.

Ds 1 was known as woo for some reason that escapes me.

randdom · 19/01/2014 22:18

For some reason pumpkin... Don't ask me where that came from.

BEEwitched · 19/01/2014 22:32

Peapod. We might have to change that, thought, because peapod was always a 'she' in DH's head and we're having a boy. The poor man keeps on getting mixd up!

Chocolatemolehill · 19/01/2014 22:41

Am I the only person that just calls the baby by its name? We know what we'll call her and we use this name to talk about her - between us and with others. I could never understand the big secret about names, when people have them but won't tell anybody before the baby it's born. Could be a cultural difference though? (I'm not originally from the UK)

bopoityboo3 · 19/01/2014 22:53

Cosmo - all through TTC DH claimed he really liked this name ( I don't at all) so as soon as the bump turned up I started referring to it as Cosmo so there was no chance of use naming the baby that if a boy. Grin

Redcliff · 19/01/2014 23:06

Two - named by DS as he wanted to call it his name number two and the two bit just stuck

superlambanana · 19/01/2014 23:39

Bump. Or the cat alien (from twelve wk scan).

livingzuid · 20/01/2014 01:42

chocolate there are several threads on baby names that go into what can happen when names are shared prior to birth. Depends on the family and friends but some can get quite vocal if they don't like the chosen name. Whereas if they are presented with the baby and the name it's much harder to kick up a fuss.

Somerimes as well people don't know the sex or they haven't decided what name the baby will be.

For us we just want to keep it private until the birth and we are very attached to her pet name. Dh wants to surprise mil with the name which is his grandmother's.

There are many reasons people don't want to discuss it with the outside world until the baby is born!

dreamc1 · 20/01/2014 04:50

When pregnant with DS, he was called Munchkin, still is now lol. Now with no.2, its munchkin 2.

jaykay987 · 20/01/2014 05:53

We seem to have adopted "Titch". No idea where it started...but I like it!

MummyPig24 · 20/01/2014 06:35

This one is Mango. It started off as Nando and dd misheard and called it Mango and that's what he/ she has been ever since.

OwlinaTree · 20/01/2014 07:55

First was titchy mcsmalls. This one is beany.

greentshirt · 20/01/2014 08:05

I agree about keeping the 'real' name private, we have only told one or two people what we are calling baby when he arrives. It's nice to have something just between us too, everyone wants a piece of us since I've been pregnant!

MissSlackPants84 · 20/01/2014 08:33

Chocolatemolehill Some people don't know what they are going to call their baby until he/she arrives. I have a list of names as long as my arm but until I've seen his/her little face, I won't know whats right for him/her.

peeapod · 20/01/2014 10:32

thumper.. (the rabbit) because when baby kicks it feels like that :)

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 20/01/2014 10:40

I for one have NO idea what Ryvita will actually be called! Confused

Cezzieb · 20/01/2014 10:47

Wriggley or wriggers for our bump. Mainly because at every scan/antenatal appointment they're having a wriggle!!! (Don't know sex yet)

ChicaMomma · 20/01/2014 11:04

We call ours 'babog', which is just irish for 'baby'. Once i know the sex though i'll call it by its intended name also!

MissMedusa · 20/01/2014 11:16

This one is called Fish because he was conceived in the Maldives and spent the first two weeks of his life swimming in the ocean with me and all the other lovely fish. I'm afraid the nickname might tick after the birth as well.

Booklover81 · 20/01/2014 11:16

My OH has been joking from the start that he wants to call the LO Cuthbert. Well this nickname has stuck along with other variations, Cuthy, Cuth etc. When we buy new things for the baby its Cuth Stuff!

ChicaMomma · 20/01/2014 11:37

missmedusa ours was also conceived in the Maldives, on kuramathi island. We joked that if it's a girl we'll call it Maldiva!

LightTripper · 20/01/2014 11:38

Ours is Aardvark (again because so many people were asking us what we were going to call her and we hadn't even thought about it, so we started just saying Aardvark because we'd started at the beginning of the book ...)

We haven't picked a name and I don't think we will until we meet her. I'm hoping it will be easier to choose when she is actually out in the world. We are starting to talk about names we like though, and could probably write down a shortlist of 2 or 3 if we had to. Really need to look at more lists though! In fact this thread has already helped, as I do like Isla so that might even be another one for the list if OH likes it (luckily surname is not White!!)

EssexGirlLottie · 20/01/2014 11:40

Our is called crouton...comes from the fact that DH said something about having a bun in the oven and i said it was too small to be a bun at that point and was more crouton sized

lizziekal · 20/01/2014 13:04

It was 'thing', then we discovered that it's a boy so it's been renamed 'Bob'.
