Save your money and buy what you need when you need it! If you don't trust being able to save, buy yourself gift vouchers.

I didn't like the clothes I got DD before she was born, they just didn't suit her (I did only buy two things, yellow as I didn't know sex, looked awful with mild jaundice). It was nice choosing stuff for her once she was here.

You don't mention toys, get a few nice Lamaze ones.

Oh and maternity pads, I didn't even use a full pack!

bit worried that you think you can spend loads now when you will be tight on funds later...

please stop buying. If you've got family and friends you'll get loads of stuff.

can't see a pushchair on here. Cheap as chips on ebay, don't buy new.

door bouncer has a tiny window of use. Take it back.

good luck with the new arrival!

So organised!

Just thinking of a few things I have for my 4 month old .... change mat, change or large bag - always take a change of clothes! baby socks, blankets for house and buggy, teethers, nightlight - the lamp is too bright in the night, bibs.

Good luck with it

Half the stuff I bought for DS never got used. My advice is to get the bare minimum, and put money aside for more later. You'll get given more stuff when the baby arrives, anyway. The sole exception is babygrows, because they get through loads in a day in my experience, and washing constantly is a pain. But cute outfits didn't get worn until he was around 9-12 months, I think? And even then it was leggings and a top, mostly, because soft things are comfier on baby skin. Before 6 months it was babygrows and cardies, all the way.

He never wore hats and hated scratchmits. I didn't use much baby toiletry gubbins on him, either, just a really gentle babywash which also did his hair. Baby nail clippers yes, a thermometer yes. Sleep bags, car seat, buggy, sling and cot.

Until your baby is here you won't know what suits you. And remember most stuff is fine second hand, too - car seats and mattresses, not so much, but everything else. No need to spend a fortune when the baby won't know or care.
