Cramping pains help I'm only 4 weeks PG

Hi everyone

I got my BFP on Tuesday and the week before and since my BFP I have had cramping pains a bit like an AF. They are really low, I haven't bled at all and it's not really more on one side than the other, so I don't think it's signs of an eptopic pg.

Has anyone had this? I want this baby so much I couldn't bare the thought of losing it. Does it sound like a mc to you?

hi, when i first found out i was pregnant i was having cramp like period pains for about 2 weeks before i found out and a few weeks after. i mentioned it to my midwife and she said it was normal and was probably implantation pains. i went on to have a problem free pregnancy. if you are worried please get reassurance from a midwife

I wouldn't worry too much if you are not bleeding. As last post said - no harm in contacting midwife if you are worried. Best wishes.

Nicki10 · 28/07/2006 12:39

Thank you vnmum I have an appointment with my doctor today just to confirm the pregnancy so I will talk to her about it then.

I have just gone from being so excited to being so nervous and scared, there just seems to be so many things that could go wrong.

nicki10 good luck and try to remain positive. you can get all sorts of funny aches and twinges in early pregnancy. if it becomes a strong cramp or sharp pain, or is accompanied by bleeding you should ask your GP to refer you to the nearest EPU. will keep everything crossed for you xx

Kelly1978 · 28/07/2006 12:42

hi,
cramping pains are very normal in early stages. I had them every time and I knwo lots of other mums who have too! Worrying tends to make them worse too, so jsut try to relax. Congratulations on the pg!

Nicki10 · 28/07/2006 12:46

Thank you all for you kind words. I think I will feel better once I have seen the GP.

It really helps having other mums who have been through it to ask for advice.

hi nicki, just wondering how you got on with your gp today, hope your o.k. xx

Nicki10 · 28/07/2006 19:20

Hi Titchy it was OK not the reassurance I was hoping for she said that abdominal pains/cramping was worrying but it was too early to tell anything and to go back if I started to bleed if not I have to go in 2 weeks for my first antinatal appointment, so I guess it's just a waiting game.

Nicki - I had this very early on with my first to the point where I was writhing around in agony - I was sure I must be miscarrying - I wasn't and she's now 5 and sitting behind me . Someone told me some time after that it probably was my uterus starting to get bigger. Anyway, just wanted to say it doesn't always spell disaster.

brimfull · 28/07/2006 19:25

Nicki,I had cramping pains with both my pregnancies,I was terrified of miscarrying ,but both turned out fine.Hope that reassures you somewhat.

Nicki10 · 28/07/2006 19:27

Thanks feistybird it's so nice to here reassuring words from people.

I was hoping the doctor would be but she wasn't. She just said it was worrying but don't stress!! Easier said than done

Hi Nicki

I think we must have conceived around the same time and I've had very slight pain/niggles practically since ov (though actually I started to think I hadn't ov as the pain kept coming back!). Anyway still getting it off and on and it hasn't really worried me, though I'm constantly scared I'll start bleeding anyway!
Can't remember if I had this in my last pregnancy, but I've read its common as its your uterous (sp?) changing.
In fact now I think about it the reason I didn't worry was I've just read Ulrika Jonson';s Autobiography and she talks about period pains at the start of her first pregnancy and her Dr told her totally normal and should settle when you start to produce more hormone or something.

Sorry for the ramble!

psychomum5 · 28/07/2006 21:47

from my experience I always felt as tho I was going to 'come on' for at least 2wks after finding I was pregnant......cramps were sometimes quite painful too. I remember distinctly asking my MIL about it in my first pregnancy and her saying she couldn't rememember as it was so long ago. Made me quite sad to think that she had forgotten so much and soooooo very determined to to forget, if only to advise my own children about what is normal or not. I also remember how 'fluidy' I felt too....was convinced I was in fact about to 'come on' and spent loads of time running to the loo just to check..

anyhooooo.....now got 5 mini psychos and each pregnancy bar one went to term, and there was a lot more than cramping preiody feeling with the one that didn't.(and there was other reasons too!)

I hope this helps....

psychomum5 · 28/07/2006 21:47

congrats by the way

bobblehead · 28/07/2006 22:00

Thats made me feel much better psychmum!

I just read in my book its not a good sign, which had set me off worrying, but I've definately heard elsewhere its normal.

I feel that fluidy feeling too and keep having to go check

Its sad that the feelings of excitement are so quickly replaced by feelings of worry though isn't it?

Hope to see you on the antenatal thread soon Nicki. I held off until today but thought if anything does go wrong I can't think of a better support place than mn. Its been so great talking to all the other ttcers and now we need others to share our worries with!

Olipop · 28/07/2006 22:04

try not to worry...I had two mc and one full term pregnancy and the one that was successful and is now upstairs asleep (long may it last!) was the one that gave me allllll the cramps and period type feelings. Really hope its fine for you!

psychomum5 · 28/07/2006 22:06

always glad to help, and congrats to you too by the way.

I will forever try to remember all feelings of things like this for being able to help reassure others when they go thro the same too.

Nicki10 · 29/07/2006 04:33

Thanks everyone. I agree Bobblehead it is a shame how we worry so much so soon. I also keep going to the loo to check all is well, hence while i'm up in the middle of the night! Plus needed the bloody loo again .

Well tomorrows a big day we are going up to visit my parents to tell them about the PG! A bit nervous really how do you tell the most important people to you the biggest news in your life?!

bobblehead · 29/07/2006 04:38

I am peeing constantly Nicki!

I remember feeling really weird about telling my parents I was pg with dd- I felt like I was still 16 and she was going to be disappointed in me! (obviously she wasn't)

Nicki10 · 29/07/2006 04:43

Are you up for a wee break too bobblehead?

Thats exactly how I feel with my dad even though I know he won't be!
