Just got back from the midwife (not the one I usually see as she is off sick) and my fundal height measurement is the same as it was 2 weeks ago, i.e at 36 weeks. She told me not to worry (obviously I am!) and made me an appointment to be measured again next week. I am a bit Hmm and was wondering if anyone had any experience of this? Thanks!

Try not to worry, not helpful I know. But, maybe this is...my fundal height at 39+4 was 38, when I was admitted at 40 it was 42! There is no way it grew 4 cm in 3 days, what I'm trying (badly) to say is that it isn't an exact science. My midwife said it can be something as silly as one day having a full bladder or bowel that can distend your uterus and alter measurements.

Try not to worry. It doesn't mean that the baby hasn't grown during this time. Different midwives measure slightly differently. Alternatively you may just have had a fuller bladder or stomach etc last time you were measured. If there was any cause for concern they would have booked you in for a growth scan.

The position of baby can make bump measure different and no two people measure the bump the same.
At 34 weeks my bump was measureing 37 weeks
At 36 weeks midwife said it was 36 weeks,
And two days later at hospital consultant has just measured it as 41 weeksWink.
So lots of different opinions, we just know I'm having a baby elephant Grin

I had this and was given a growth scan - all was fine. Hard not to worry but as long as the baby is moving as normal, i think it's most likely to be absolutely fine. They base these measurements on averages and a steady growth pattern - not everyone is going to conform to that throughout the pregnancy.

When I was in hosp whist pregnant my measurements changed by 5cm over 24h! Not in numerical order either, kept going up and down!! I'm sure it's more to do with the fact that different people have measured you rather than anything else!Smile

Thanks all for the reassurance, sounds like it's not an exact science Wink I felt a bit sorry for the midwife, she kept telling me not to worry but my face was clearly giving away my thoughts!
