Visual disturbances causes by eclampsia - how long does it take to resolve?

I am currently 4 weeks post partum following delivery of twins in mid December. I have had disturbed vision since delivery and although it is better than it was it is still very blurred. I am extremely anxious about this as it is terrible not to be able to see properly and look after new born twins. I am currently taking diazepam as required to manage the anxiety but have been told by GP to wait 6 weeks for pregnancy hormones to settle back down.

My history is that I delivered my twins by planned c-section but my fluid levels were an issue on the day of delivery. I had fluid pumped into me due to dehydration but had a blocked catheter so it was not able to expel the fluid so it built up inside me. This was resolved and I was discharged only to be readmitted a few days later with high blood pressure and disturbed vision, they thought I had eclampsia. I had blind spots in my vision, like a camera flash had gone off in my face, that didn't go away and I couldn't see through it. I had a CT scan and all was clear so I was allowed home again (on Christmas Eve). They think the excess fluid may have settled on my brain in the area that deals with vision and would improve as my fluid levels return to normal which they now have. But my anxiety levels remain very high as my vision is still very compromised and I just want it to be clear as it was before delivery.

I have a GP appointment on Friday and don't know if to ask for a referral to an eye specialist or just to wait the 6 weeks. I suppose I am worried that it won't get better as it is very difficult to tell if it is still improving.

I would like to know if anyone else has experienced this and how long did it take to resolve?

Please be kind as I am anxious enough without any horror stories.
