Teeth/Gums

My gums have been bleeding a little when brushing my teeth, which i put down to extra blood/swelling etc.

In the last few days my teeth have been feeling a little odd, like the top and bottom don't close together, almost like they are wonky or I've had a punch in my face!

Has anyone else experienced this? Confused

Hi, my gums have been bleeding every time I clean my teeth for weeks now (20+2), it's so annoying - no dental issues normally. I have swopped to a super soft toothbrush, sensodyne toothpaste and corsodyl mouthwash but it is still happening. I have my 6-monthly dental check up in a few weeks so will ask for their advice then. I don't think it is anything to worry about, and there must be a reason that pregnant women get free dental care here, but am hoping for some reassurance that this will resolve once baby is here. I haven't had any weird feelings like you described though, but it is worth getting it checked out.

Awful isnt it! I had a check up about 4 months ago (40 weeks now) and all was well.
Will go back once baby is here if it hasn't died down.

It's probably caused by your joints being looser in pregnancy, my jaw ached loads in the early days and I've had no end of toothache since being pregnant.
My dentist recommended:
cutting down on the teeth brushing (I was getting up to 6 times a day because I hoped it would help the pain!)
Only brush with an electric toothbrush as I was brushing too hard
Interdental brushes (look like mascara wands)
No mouthwash, she doesn't like corsadyl, she recommended saltwater or sunflower oil!

It only took a few days and they were much better, I'm having a monthly scale and polish now too, taking advantage now it's free!!

Oh and sensitive toothpaste applied directly when they are really sore!
