Hi!
I'm 36 and 6wks pregnant for the first time, and loads of things are happening that I don't know if are normal! Probably being super paranoid but would really appreciate some advice from the lovely experienced people on this site, so:

  1. Had some brown discharge (sorry if TMI) but don't know what that means?
  2. My boobs are really really sore to the point it hurts to lie on my side at night, is that normal?
  3. Have very mild cramping in abdomen and a little lower back ache, normal?
  4. I don't "feel" pregnant - no morning sickness or nausea, am I just lucky?!
  5. I am terrified of miscarriage, how would I know of that was happening? I'm guessing a lot of pain & bleeding?
Sorry if these questions seem naive but I have no idea what is normal and what's not, it's pretty scary, any reassurance would be welcome as I'm driving myself mad googling!! Thank you xx

All entirely normal

I've been pg three times and had all those symptoms

First few weeks are exactly like just before your period esp the period pain type feeling

congratulations!!!

  1. Quite common but worth getting checked out
2.Really common- surprising how bloody painful too.
  1. normal
  2. Lucky
  3. Everyone worries about this.

On balance, due to the brown discharge I would get it checked out but I'm sure you will be absolutely fine- all the other stuff totally normal.

  1. Normal -probably implantation bleeding.
  2. Very normal
  3. Normal - is your uterus stretching
  4. Normal - if you do get sickness, it usually starts about week 8
  5. Usually severe pain and bleeding signal problems, yes, but it is possible to have an mc without even knowing. Early pg is full of anxiety but I'm sure you'll be reassured at your first scan.

Hello and congratulations...

  1. Brown discharge is normally a clearing out of old blood, which is OK.
  2. Sore boobs good sign
  1. Mild cramping good sign, things are stretching in there.
  1. Some people don't get MS at all, for most people 6 weeks is a little early for it to kick in so it still might
  1. MC for me has started with the arrival of some spotting of bright red blood (not brown) followed by heavier bleeding and clotting and pain.

Wishing you the best for your pregnancy.

Ooh I type slowly!

All normal! My bff was complaining/commenting to her dm that she just didn't feel pregnant at 6 weeks... at 7 weeks hg/morning sickness commenced in both pregnancies!

I echo what PPs have said and would add to buy a bra to sleep in. Bravado do good ones, and you can nurse in them.

Top tip - don't buy a white one. Mine is distinctly yellow in parts.

Congratulations. Welcome to the worry bus.

MyNameIsKenAdams · 12/01/2014 19:54

All normal.

Should you see any fresh red blood, then it will be worth seeing someone, but brown discharge is normal.

I became a furious knicker-checker throughout my pregnancy, and it never eased.

Worriedthistimearound · 12/01/2014 19:56

As everyone else has said, all very normal. Morning sickness usually starts sometime between 5wks and 8wks with most women starting to feel it around 6 or 7wks. Of course, many women don't have ms at all and some poor souls are sick to the point of needing hospitalisation. Although if you did have HG (severe ms) it would most probably be upon you by now so don't worry about that.
Congratulations!

Wow thank you everyone! Can't believe how many people replied so quickly!
I panic every time I go to the loo, I did have one occurrence of bright red blood and dashed down to the walk-in centre, but the doc said it was too early to tell anything, but she said my stomach was soft and my blood pressure was fine.
I never realised how stressful this was going to be, nobody tells you that bit!!
