Can you have an over active baby...?

Probably a really stupid question Blush I just have this awful thought that because my baby is really active since I've been feeling movement (I'm now 30 weeks), that it might be born with a defect because it's moving around a lot. I hope that doesn't sound awful or like I'm being ungrateful for being able to have a child, but it's been runnin through my mind for a while now

Not a medical person but I think very active baby is a good thing, plenty of signs they're alive!

Pg with dc2 due anytime & its been much more active than ds was. In concerned this dc is going to be even more of a live wire (how is that possible!!)

Dad moved constantly some days, and I really mean constantly. Made me feel sick sometimes, I felt like half woman half washing machine! He has been unstoppable since the minute he learned to move, so good luck!

PenguinsDontEatKale · 12/01/2014 19:04

Dad? Confused

No, there is nothing to worry about. DD1 moved constantly too. She's more chilled than DD2 who wasn't so manic. My mother says I never stayed still for a minute and I'm reasonably normal [twitch]

Often a seemingly very active baby is also just a random collection of factors - position of placenta, position baby likes to lie in, etc.

There is nothing to be worried about from an active baby. Except maybe that they keep it up once they are out and don't let you sleep Wink

In totally agreeing on the whole active baby = reassurance it is ok, but earlier this evening I was sitting watching my tummy have the odd gentle roll until it looked like I had an xbox controller in my belly on full pelt vibrate. For about 2 seconds. Felt and looked so weird!!!!

I've got one here too! And I had exactly the same worries. We've had several scans and right from early days the Sonographers have got annoyed because she won't sit still! It was constant all 4 limb jerking at the first few and I was concerned, but she's now mellower and at 30 weeks its more LIKE either YMCA or River dance! Grin

I was surprised I could feel so much as I have an anterior placenta, but the movement us apparently quite normal.

Stupid iphone...DS :)

SaucyJack · 13/01/2014 09:31

POsition makes a difference apparently.

DD3 is transverse, and I can feel every. single. bloody thing.

Go the fuck to sleep bubba.

McPheezingMyButtOff · 13/01/2014 09:35

My dd moved, turned, flipped, kicked, poked, headbutted constantly from the moment I could feel her. Once, she kicked so hard, that I actually had a visable bruise. She's now 18 months and no better Hmm

Loopylouu · 13/01/2014 09:47

Mine moves all the time too. Especially at night. 29 weeks this week.

I moan about it, but she stops for a bit, I panic!

She will not move in scans though. She turns her back, curls up and will not cooperate at all. As soon as the scan is over, she back to jumping around.

My son was just the same. He's now 11 and still the most awkward, stubbon child on earth!

ChicaMomma · 13/01/2014 10:07

K8ee, if it's any consolation, i have heard the opposite. For eg my sonographer told me that it's very common for Down's syndrome babies to lie completely still in the womb.
I've had 3 scans so far and they've said the same thing all 3 times ''Oh, it's an active little one!!'.. jumping around the entire time.. they've all said it's a good sign.

I hope the child isnt a wild child (ala McPheezing) is all i'm worrying about! But as for defects- i believe the opposite is true.

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 13/01/2014 10:54

Well I can personally debunk that one, sorry! DD has Down's and she doesn't stop kicking me! Like I said, YMCA or River dance! Grin

Sorry, just realised that my last post didn't help the thread! Blush
