Hi,first time on this forum and bit of a daft question. I'm 16 weeks pregnant and due at the end of June. It's my husband's birthday in a few weeks and I'm thinking of getting him a trip to the races package as a present, thought it would be a nice idea for a fun day out for us and some friends before the baby arrives. Trouble is it takes place 3 weeks before the baby is due. Any thoughts on whether its a good idea and I'll be able to enjoy the day?

Hi, i think it depends how you're pregnancy progresses. You will undoubtedly feel quite big at that stage and be a bit uncomfortable. Im due in two weeks with second and wouldn't feel or be up to it as suffering with pgp but I had a great first pregnancy and would've been fine. Maybe wait a little longer to see how you feel.

Will you be able to sit down? I'm 35 weeks now and can't walk or stand up for long periods of time.

StillPukin · 11/01/2014 18:13

To confuse things I'm saying slightly differently to the above posters..
I'm 40+5 and still walking every day quite comfortably, the only time I feel uncomfortable is if I'm standing for a long time - it pulls my back.
I would enquire if you'd be able to sit down and if you can, go for it, have a good time :)

Also, perhaps bare in mind it might be quite warm in June and that could make you uncomfortable

I wouldn't be able to (am 33 weeks) particularly if standing for longer periods of time - hurts my back far more than walking!

I think it's impossible to say right now how you will feel then! If you book it for you, DH plus friends would you feel able to pull out at the last minute if you weren't up to it? If you wouldn't want to lose the cost of the ticket then I probably wouldn't book it.

You might be unlucky and develop some sort or back/pelvis problem which could make you uncomfortable. But if you're generally fit and well and you have a "normal" pregnancy then I think you should be ok.

I moved house 3 weeks before my first... carried boxes, unpacked etc. Was a bit knackered but wasn't in any pain etc.

Am also 16 weeks now and due end of June, congrats!! Thanks

I would have been ok if I could sit down and there were plenty of toilets.

Thingymajigs · 11/01/2014 19:37

I have 3 weeks to go and I'm feeling huge, achy and vulnerable now. I'm avoiding outings as much as possible and I'm ususally a very active person. If I could sit down and it didn't go on for too long I think I'd be fine.

It does depend on the person, so struggle and some glide through, but it's difficult to gauge which camp you'll fall into until nearer the time. I have 3 weeks left and have been struggling for the last fortnight. Can't really stand for more than a few minutes and can't walk for more than 10 minutes, despite a straightforward pregnancy and no prior problems with back/hips etc.

some struggle (sorry - typo...)
