Can you have pre-eclampsia without high blood pressure?

I'm 37+1. At my midwife appointment on Monday I had protein in my urine but BP was normal.
My hands, feet and face have swollen this week but I was in triage for a presentation scan and when I asked the midwife she said it's normal for this stage of pregnancy.
I asked them to check my blood pressure just to make sure and she said it was within the normal range.
My mum had severe pre-eclampsia with my sister 15 years ago and had to be induced at 35 weeks, and I know there's an increased risk if it's your first pregnancy (which this is) and if there's family history of it.
Am I worrying over nothing? I just keep thinking of the horror stories where full-term perfectly healthy babies have been lost to undiagnosed pre-eclampsia :(

How high was the protein level in your urine? Less than +1 can be normal, higher than that could be a warning sign.

Odema can definitely be normal so late in pregnancy.

Was your blood pressure normal for you, or simply within the normal range? My blood pressure is generally low, so it could be in the normal range but very elevated for me if that makes sense!

I'm not sure rockchick. My midwife sent off a urine sample to the lab to check for an infection but it came back clear.
Also unsure of whether or not my BP was normal for me Blush I should probably ask about these things while I'm there!
MW didn't seem concerned.

You can have pre-eclampsia with moderate or normal blood pressure, because blood pressure is a symptom, not the disease itself. You can ask for a blood test for liver and kidney for function, usually done in a day admission unit or labour ward outside office hours and the results are back in a few hours. This is far more definitive than blood pressure. You can ring the outside hours emergency number in your notes and explain your concerns.

Yes you can.Scare story, sorry, but I had ++ protein in my urine, showing no infection ( but given antibiotics anyway ffs),had a scan which shown small growth (also had blood in urine at hosp),bp was showing as 'normal' (mine is naturally low though).

A week or so later I was rushed into hospital via ambulance, fitting, unconscious and with extremely high bp -eclampsia!!!Had emergency c-section and remember nothing LOL

So yes,do check if you are worried hun and talk to someone about it
