Suspected breech at 34 weeks

At my 34 week check yesterday, my GP reckoned that baby was in the breech position. Baby had been transverse at previous checks so he's obviously spun the wrong way! GP was fairly relaxed that there was still time for baby to turn but anyone got any tips to get him moving?

I'm not 100% convinced he is breech - although I suppose I should assume the GP has felt more bumps than I have - as I thought the hard bit was a bottom not a head because of where else I was being kicked!

This is no2 and would prefer not to have a c-sec unless I really need one.

There's no such thing as breech at 34 weeks, just head up. Baby still has room and time to play.

Have a look at Spinning Babies website but for now just have fun with it.

Hi Marmite. My baby was in breech position at 34 weeks and so was advised to have her turned. I didn't fancy that so took someone's advice and tried hypnotherapy. I had no real faith that it would work but it did, that night.

I was delighted that it worked but even if it hadn't, it was the most lovely and relaxing afternoon I'd had in a while! I paid £75 for about 2 and a half hours in my home. I do recommend it but don't know if I was just lucky.

Good luck and congratulations Smile

My DS1 was heads up at 36 weeks, felt him turn in the middle of the night. I used Chinese Moxibustion sticks to get him to move they worked perfectly (burn near little toe).

Oops, sorry. My phone...

marmitelover · 08/01/2014 15:16

silvershins that does sound nice!

and confuddledDOTcom I agree! A friend had suggested spinning babies so will give it a try and I like the idea of trying some smoking sticks ... I'm not a real believer in non-medical type stuff but if it does no harm it is probably worth a try!

Fingers's crossed that the little man spins his way round ready to meet us

Dd stayed breech until 38weeks. I went for a positioning scan and she had turned and was engaged. You have plenty of time yet.

tgamble13 · 08/01/2014 16:11

at my 34 week scan baby was breeched. tried spinnin tried reflexology been scanned twice since, refused the ecv and now am at 38 weeks and still breeched booked in for c section on tuesday. if i was u id just try to relax baby knows best after all. where i come from they say breeched babies are mummies boys/girls so i like that thought.

marmitelover · 08/01/2014 19:47

tgamble13 good luck for Tuesday! Better to do it all safely and hope baby is a real mummy 's boy or girl. I guess I'll just have to wait and see how it progresses for me. He's in quite an uncomfortable position at the mo (for me) so hopefully he'll see reason

I'm not into alternative medicine but moxi really does work. there's also a reflexology way to do it.

Problem at this stage is baby could turn several timesa day so turning isn't going to do much. You're better working on OFP at the moment and save too much spinning for later on. I've seen ladies who've had to have their water broken because their baby was spinning in labour.

I'm always dubious about cs for breech because there's always time as each baby has it's own gestation.

oh and if you're uncomfortable frozen peas helps!Grin
