Comfy clothes for shorties...

I'm 35 weeks and just starting to think about what I'll wear in the first couple of weeks after giving birth. I'd like to get hold of some comfy joggers for home, and fairly loose tops that I can wear over nursing vests (apparently H&M do good value vests).

But, I'm 5ft nothing and struggle at the best of times to find trousers / joggers that don't drag along the floor. Anyone got any bright ideas about where I might find some? I'm thinking they don't even need to be maternity, they could just be a bigger size as long as they're short enough.

TIA

Oh, also, ideally not too expensive - can't quite bring myself to spend £30 on joggers that I may only wear for a few weeks!

Have you looked at Next? There are some joggers etc. I lived in yoga pants the first few weeks after birth, though I'm lazy and just wear ones that drag on the floor! But the waistband is very comfy, particularly if you do end up having a cs.

If you're dressing solely for comfort, then leggings might be better.

Those Next ones could be good, Thurlow did you wear non-maternity yoga pants soon after birth? Did you just go up a couple of sizes instead?

I do have leggings but don't wear them often, I think because I don't have enough long tops to wear with them, so I'll look into that too.

Thanks both.

Asos do the most comfy pair of wide legged joggers/lounge pants Ive ever worn. They are in the maternity section and are called something like fold over maternity lounge pants. They come in 3 leg sizes (I think) and are only £15. Ive bought 3 pairs I love them so much!

I'm thinking I'll still be in my maternity jeans and leggings for the first few weeks afterwards. After that I'll see what sort of size I am and go from there :)

Thurlow · 08/01/2014 12:16

I wore non-maternity all the way through my pg and then for weeks afterwards, I'm lazy Grin Yoga pants and pyjama bottoms like these were my saving grace. I think I had them only a size or so bigger, but I didn't put on much weight during pg other than the bump (joys of HG!). 'Lounge pants' are what I think of them as, just soft jersey trousers. They were amazing in hospital after a cs. But yes, I wore leggings a lot too, and my maternity jeans for a good few weeks once the cs scar allowed me to.

clairedunphy · 08/01/2014 12:24

Lucky for you staying in non-maternity Thurlow! I'm in maternity jeans most of the time at the moment, apart from one pair of lovely soft lounge pant things, but yes I think jeans might not be comfy enough to begin with, esp if I have a cs. Those in your link look great, nice big soft waistband.

A few things to go on, thanks all.

If it's only home wear, why don't you tuck the bottoms into your socks. Tis what I do with lounge wear.

Thurlow · 08/01/2014 12:37

Oh, it was only non-maternity stuff like yoga pants, still needed normal maternity wear (realised that looked terribly like a stealth boast, which is wasn't!)

jammiecat · 08/01/2014 12:56

If you're looking for comfort try these: www.bonmarche.co.uk/search?categoryPathRefs=shop&q=essential+jog+pants Cheap and comfy. they do a 27" leg which should probably suit you (I am also 5 foot), although they start at size 12-14 (small) so no good if you're smaller. They're not the most stylish but ideal for around the house.

clairedunphy · 08/01/2014 13:54

Ha Thurlow, I was feeling rather jealous then!! Makes sense though, yoga pants are pretty stretchy so I guess there's no real need for specific maternity ones.

jammiecat thanks, they look ideal for round the house, might pop into my local store and see if they've got any in.
