Could travel sickness bands really help?

I put them on a few hours ago and definitely feel less terrible. Could this be possible or is it all in my head?

I think they helped me a bit.

Have heard success stories with them though.

They helped me in two pregnancies. I kept them on 24h a day, except for showers. I can't remember it off the top of my head now (but it is easy to find on internet) that if you get a really bad bout of sickness, you can press the balls in second long intervals for a minute for a stronger effect, or get someone to grab both your wrists and do it for you.

GirlWithTheDirtyShirt · 06/01/2014 17:16

I got some relief from them - particularly when travelling or when I had to move around a lot at work.

Wombleloz · 06/01/2014 17:33

I think they did help me, but didn't make it go completely. And they hurt my wrists a bit after a while.

Have you tried queasy pops?

eatyourveg · 06/01/2014 18:07

Not made any difference to me at all - was travel sick as a baby and its never gone away - real pain.

MissSmiley · 06/01/2014 18:27

It took my sickness away so effectively I used to have to remove them to make sure my symptoms were still there.

I was similar in that it seemed like they helped but I wasn't quite convinced they were doing it. I decided that it didn't matter even it was psychological, since the important thing was I felt better!

Cuckoo82 · 06/01/2014 20:48

I've used travel bands since I was 7 weeks (now 24 weeks) and although I still feel sick I definitely think they take the edge off. I used to wear them 24/7 but now just when I'm in the car - I think the advice about pressing down on the little balls for extra effect is right, I did that when I felt really bad and felt like it helped.

suedehead · 06/01/2014 20:50

Yep, they helped me a bit too. I agree with Loopy - even if it's psychosomatic, I don't care as I felt better!
Are you sure you've got them in the right place? Right between the two tendons in your wrist - three fingers down, with the plastic nub in the pad of your bottom finger?

Good luck x

I've never had a baby, so can't really empathise, but I am a believer in the bands. I've never been travel sick with them. Not even close. They are supposed to work by putting enough pressure to stop the nausea.

Work every time i'm on a rough boat, or if I'm feeling anxious when I fly. I tend not to wear them anymore when flying, but keep them in my pocket or bag so I can rub them if I need to. The effects might be totally psychosomatic, but if you believe it works....

They don't sovle the problem but take the edge off it,

I got mine from boots

firstbaby01 · 06/01/2014 23:18

Yes they have definatley helped with me. My sickness has been really bad and i was still sick a few times whilst wearing them but nowhere near as much as i was without them.

OwlinaTree · 07/01/2014 07:47

I found they helped especially when traveling in first trimester.
