So pg seems to have caused a flare-up of my childhood allergies and made me sneeze at pretty much everything. Horses seem to be the worst problem: I look after my friend's on a Monday morning, and today it's been horrendous to the point I've sneezed almost continuously and actually made my nose bleed Sad. Can't breathe through it now and it really hurts, my eyes are stinging and watering, my chest is tight, and all I want to do is sleep! GP won't give me any antihistamines because apparently none are proven safe it pg, which is fair enough, so can anyone recommend anything that might help? Thanks in advance.

I'm having a similar problem but with my food intolerances. Was told today by the mw that it's very common for them to be worse in pregnancy but I can't take antihistamines for the symptoms so I am pretty much only drinking water as most fruits are making me have horrible coughing fits so no squash etc and I have to avoid anything with milk in it anyway!! Very bland diet for me at the moment :(

Sorry not much help but you may have to give up helping if it's making you that unwell.

I have a severe dust allergy and I take Loradatine every day for it. So far the advice I have been given is:

a midwife has said- no way!
a doctor has said- hmmmmm, not sure, maybe don't take it?
a consultant has said- I don't know, ask your doctor, it's probably OK
and 2 pharmacists have said it's completely fine and they wouldn't be worried about it

I'm going with the pharmacists. I feel like total shit without it and just because something hasn't been proven as safe doesn't mean it isn't- they don't do testing on pregnant women these days so they'll never know if it's 100% safe- but pharmacists tend to know their stuff.

My doctor who wasn't sure also said that you can get prescribed other antihistamines, btw, so I'd try asking your pharmacist to see what they say if the allergy is really unbearable.

I took piriton in all five of my pegnancies, the consultsnt said it was fine andmy gp was happy to prescribeit.

My sample of five children is that they are all fine, no way could I have not taken anti histemiens.
