Reduced movements - why so much follow up?

Morning everyone, currently 28+2 and last night had to go into hospital due to reduced movements over the previous 24 hours. I'd still been feeling the baby move but significantly less than normal and usually only as a response to me jiggling the bump and trying to wake him.

They put me on the monitor for an hour and baby's heart rare was absolutely fine and the machine could detect him moving very frequently - although I only actually felt him about 3 times.

The midwife was happy for me to go home but I've had to have another appointment made for today to go back and get monitored again and they've made me an appointment in the Foetal Well-Being Clinic on Monday for further monitoring and so a plan can be formulated?

Has anyone else had this? I thought it would simply be a case of, "baby's heart and movements are fine, you can go home but you did the right thing coming in" - job done.

I can't tell if there is something to worry about because they have booked he these appointments.....

Nothing to worry about, just sounds like your being looked after. Checking baby over a longer period makes sense..

I also spent last night in hospital due to reduced movement and was back in for another ctg this morning. In my case baby was moving but not as much and the movements i was getting were certainly not as strong as normal. Currently 38 weeks and booked into be induced tomorrow (planned induction as diabetic) but with me my blood pressure was through the roof last night and they wanted to make sure it was just a result of panicking, which as my blood pressure was frigging perfect this morning it seems it was! Annoyingly I was given the option of staying in last night and being induced this morning or going home for a 'decent nights sleep' (which didn't happen) and going back this morning to be induced, but because my blood pressure and movements were fine today we're back to tomorrow.

I wouldn't worry about being called back a few times, sounds to me like they're being thorough and it ultimately will help keep your mind at ease.

It's probably nothing to worry about, but it's good that you are being followed up and monitored.

My dd3 didn't move during pregnancy but the professionals wouldn't take my concerns seriously. Turns out they really should have done. That said, my situation with dd was extremely rare. Just go along to the appointments and I'm sure it will reassure you.

Thanks guys, just got back from today's appointment. Everything was well, he is moving much more today and his heart rhythms were more stable too. It was quite nice and relaxing lying down with a book for an hour in the peace and quiet Smile Got to go back tomorrow morning for a further tracing and I'm sure it will be fine then too Smile
