I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for good children story books? I would love to start reading to my bump now and then continue with the same stories after the baby gets here...just not really sure where to start!
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated Smile

I've bought "the hungry caterpillar" to read to my bump, just because it was my favourite book when I was little. It's pretty short though and you really need to see the pictures, so I'm not sure he's enjoying it much...

I don't read to bump, but I sing regularly to it (hopelessly out of tune!!). Did the same with DS and the same songs soothed him when he was born so that's why I'm trying it again this time. Not lullabies or anything, just singing along with stuff on my iPod!

I've read 'the tiger that came to tea' a few times.

I feel a bit silly reading to my stomach though Blush

I know, I tried reading a fairy tale last night, felt a bit daft until I got a few pages in. The only thing is half the stories in the book (on kindle) are quite dark, was hoping for some lighter stories, funnier stories but not in this book!
Thanks for the books mentioned, I loved the hungry caterpillar too, quite looking forward to revisiting some of my childhood books!

Poetry is recommended as babies recognise the rhythm and rhyming patterns they've heard in utero. So something from Dr Seuss or the like.

The Gruffalo and Guess How Much I Love You are popular here with my 3 year old (and me) and have even since his birth. You'll blub with the second one- bloody hormones!

We read Six Dinner Sid to my DS1 in utero. He still loves it aged nearly 9. DS2 just got Dear Zoo and the lovely Julia Donaldson books repeatedly - oh and the Little Red Train -as that's what I was reading to DS1.
