I'm 7 weeks pregnant tomorrow!
I had an early scan at 6+4 and baby with a heartbeat! Everything looking cheery after 4MC 1ectopic.
Work today has killed me off! Been on my feel at day! Got a cough an every time I cough my insides (down there) feel like they tear
Just sat down after working 7-5.30 and I have shooting pains in my left side, legs feet and back are killing!
I'm so scared I'll lose this baby! What do I do? Confused

Have you told anyone at work that you are pregnant? I can completely understand why you might not want to, but PG related work adjustments cannot be made until you do.

After the day I've had I did mention it at the end of my shift to the manager who will have to do risk assessments etc ASAP, think ill have to reduce my hours! I hope I'm in bed 9 latest tonight! Don't know how people manage x

Make sure you get your risk assessment and don't hesitate to speak to your doctor if you need time off - I've been off work a while now because I am so ill, but I still have slight bleeds every now and then (19+4 now) and my work is physical and includes lifting stuff (librarian, those books are heavy) so it's just not worth the risk.

BEEwitched, thanks I think I'll have to at least cut the hours because it's making me worry, I also work with heavy lifting (childcare) I have at least lifted and stretched 40 times today.
I'm just thinking bed very very soon! Lol x

Check which are your qualifying weeks for calculating maternity pay before deciding to cut your hours.

You may find you can cope better once the cold lifts a bit, and also if you can get slightly longer breaks or other adjusted duties.

I won't qualify for maternity pay at this job as I've only been there 4 months!
It's an extra 5 hours a week we are expected to work as of today, before it was 9-6 shifts or 8-5 .
I'm working a 9-7 tomorrow so maybe that will be easier. X

You only have to have been working there 26 weeks by 25th week of pregnancy so you will get SMP (your employer may offer a higher rate but with other conditions attracted such as length of service). The amount of SMP you get will be based on what you are paid weeks 17-25 of your pregnancy, not the hours worked during this time, so try and figure out when you need to be working as much as possible to maximise this.

Ahh ok, that's kool, thanks :)
How will it work if I don't go back there after??

As long as they only pay you SMP then that's fine, you just hand your notice in as usual. If they pay you more than SMP then they can ask you to repay the extra.

Have you tried compression tights for the leg pains? They should help of you're on your feet all day.

lj123 · 04/01/2014 18:23

Ohh I havnt but that's a good plan. Thank you Smile
