Bloody hell it's a BFP! (and does anyone else have these funny cramps?)

I have lurked for a very long time, but honestly never thought I would graduate from infertility forums to post on Mumsnet Talk as a pregnant person!

Got my positive test on New Year's Eve. I had my first IVF through the month of December and was sure it had failed as I felt like I was about to get my period. I took the test on New Year's Eve to get it out the way, sure it would be negative, and it was positive! I have since repeated it 4 times and they have all been positive, no maybe about it.

The only thing that is worrying me slightly is that I am still getting cramps as if I was about to get my period. They are not particularly intense or in any particular area of the abdomen, just generally, well, crampy. I am not bleeding at all but that may be because of the progesterone support tablets I am on.

I am not particularly high risk by the classical definition but I do have PCOD and thrombophilic mutations so am taking heparin as well as low dose prednisolone and supplemental progesterone.

Thanks in advance

Congratulations!

I had similar, it will be implantation pains.

Mine were also discomfort rather than painful and at around the same time.

summerbaby2014 · 02/01/2014 15:22

I mentioned mine to the GP at my first appointment

Vosmyorka · 02/01/2014 15:24

Thanks so much, summerbaby2014! I shall mention it today. Congratulations to you too!

First of all - CONGRATULATIONS!!

Yes I had these at approx. 5/6 weeks preg, like crampy period pains. (I am now 27 weeks pregnant) I was told it was the uterus stretching, had no bleeding or discharge or anything just achy crampyness. (Didn't stop me knicker checking constantly however!)

Vosmyorka · 02/01/2014 15:30

THANK YOU! (and same to you!)
Really reassuring to read that others had it, I was thinking I was now going to have to deal with a new worry! When did it go away? Did you tell your doctor/midwife?

It lasted about a week or so.

The thing that people don't tell you is all the odd pains that you get during pregnancy!

After the implantation pains I had some odd stretching type cramps. I think that is when your uterus is expanding.

Now I'm at the ligament pain stage (16wks) joy! Sneezing is not always fun :(

Best of luck! Sounds like this is long awaited so many congrats :)

Fantastic! Grin Congratulations! Grin

I had cramping at four weeks in and it's implantation. Can be pretty painful, then it will move to ligament stretching which will feel like your sides have growing pains. It's all part of the journey. Smile your way through it.

Hooray! Congratulations! Thanks

Yep - cramps, then ligament pains, then rib pain, the itching, the rage...!

Pregnancy is so magical and glamourous Grin

Oh yes the glamour of pregnancy LastOneDancing! :-) I've had a cold over Christmas and I sneezed so hard one day I peed myself a tiny bit! :-( LOL!

Vosmyorka, I think it was approx. a week for me too. I didn't mention it to the doc or midwife as I looked it up on lovely Mumsnet and discovered that it was quite normal. If it is worrying you though it can never hurt to mention it to them.
