My first labour was an horrendous nitemare that lasted 12 hours! My little darling had her arm stuck up to her cheek and wasn't moving!!! In the end I was cut, had a ventouse delivery and stitched back up! Am I ok having a normal vaginal birth again? The old cut won't reopen will it? Nobody has said anything to me????

I had hideous first (induced) labour and DS1 was eventually hauled out with forceps, episiostomy etc etc
18 months later, DS2 slipped out in 2 hours Smile
Go for it
good luck

Hopefully here to reassure. I had an horrific labour with DS (back to back) and episiotomy and ventouse. 4 years later, DD was born completely naturally in just over 2 hours labour, 20 mins pushing and only a slight graze, no stitching, no cutting and no intervention necessary at all. A lovely birth in fact.

Fingers crossed the same happens for you. Good Luck!

My first sounded very much like yours and my second labour was so so different. DD came out after 10 mins pushing, I tore a little but was absolutely fine. Good luck!

Yep second births are usually easier and quicker. 12 hours isn't that long by comparison. I had episiotomy and forceps after induction first time, took 15 hours. Second birth three hours 45, still episiotomy, still stitches, but healed much better.

You'll be fine!! I expect no one has mentioned it because no one sees an issue. Ask your mw I guess. Or your mat unit. Good luck!

And I don't believe the old cut does reopen, scar tissue being stronger than normal tissue iyswim.

Both mine were born with ventouse assistance, after episiotomy the first time around. It was ok, though I tore along the old scar line the second time, it didn't cause any major problem and all was healed within a few weeks.

Forgot to add - I didn't feel the tear with DC2, on gas and air only - so not a really horrible experience.

While my mum assures me that her episiotomy opened when she had her second, mine didn't. I didn't even need stitches with my second or, much bigger, third.
