Hi all,

Anyone else suffering with these? No one ever forewarned me about varicose veins down there!!! I knew about leg ones- which I have developed- well just one on the inside of right leg. But have also developed an enormous one on the right side of my lady bits- it's so knobbly it almost looks like a little tumour! (Sorry tmi!!!) it's not always sore but throbs if I go from laying to standing just with the pressure of the rush of blood down there.
Anyone else suffering? Have any advice? Able to reassure me it'll go?
Midwife checked it and told me she'd seen worse but that was 2 weeks ago and it's worse now.

Thanks in advance!!!!

I'm a midwife OP and I have delivered a lady with a vulval varicosity the size of a cricket ball. I felt v sorry for her as it was throbbing so much during labour but I followed her up and it subsided quickly post-natally.

I'm sorry you are suffering but it will get better..

That's great news to hear! It looks so horrible- but I guess a small price to pay for a beautiful little baby, and fingers crossed it'll go back to normal after! :-)

OMG me too! Developed during 2nd pg but about wk 18 with pg3 it suddenly tripled in length, so much so that I thought I'd been bitten by an insect and reacted. I'm not convinced it will go down as it didn't before.

It's not giving me any problems now however I'm slightly concerned that it could when I'm nearing the later stages and it's warmer weather. Any advice gratefully received!!

Mine never bothered me during pregnancy but I had such horrific leg ones that I was a bit distracted caring for them! I am now a student midwife and suppose they must be quite rare as I have not seem any yet.

It's horrible isn't it maccrackles?!?! I can cope with it being a darker vein afterwards and maybe a little pronounced but not like a bunch of grapes!!!! I read somewhere about support pants, but I can't imagine anything more uncomfortable than tight pants sitting on it!!!!

I didn't have them during my last pregnancy but developed one about 2 weeks after I gave birth. It was absolute agony and took about 6 weeks to go down.

I am now 7 weeks pregnant and dreading developing one again.

Poor you! I suffered like you with my second pregnancy. When it first appeared I thought I had some sort of horrific tumour. I found it very difficult to stand still for long without being in pain. I was advised to wear a sanitary towel for a little support and this did actually help! My problem disapeared after birth but I still have them on my legs.

comfyonesie2 · 30/12/2013 20:10

You can use some Preparation H on them, the gel not the cream. It's very cooling and soothing and it's only witch hazel, which the MW said was fine to use on the vulva. HTH!

My sister had this problem after her babies and like you, no one told her about it. Have a look at this site- it was really helpful. Good luck with getting it fixed.

Hi, I had them during my third pregnancy but not for any of my others ( I have four children ). Please don't worry as mine improved a lot during my pregnancy but I am sure I was given medication for it ( this was in Australia). I do remember not being able to stand up longer than about 15 minutes though without feeling discomfort.

My advice is to ask a ob/gyn if there is something you could take to help and try and keep off your feet as much as possible. After the birth mine disappeared completely and haven't returned. Chances are your next pregnancy will be fine too. Good luck
