Am I completely mad? Flying very late on

Whilst overcome with daughterly duty, I booked flights to Spain to see my mum with my 2.4yo - when I'll be 34wks pregnant. Assuming all is fine health wise to travel, am I just completely mad to even contemplate this?! Dh can't come (and can't really afford to get him a ticket, hence the reason for flying lone parent) but can take us and pick us up from airport.

The flight home is late evening too... Bonkers?! Shock

Have you checked whether you're allowed to fly that late? What about journey home?

Not bonkers, it's just a short flight so shouldn't be too much of an issue. Just check your insurance and be prepared in case you go into labour whilst out there!

You might need a letter from your doctor, the guidelines vary by airline.

Assuming you're flying from Uk so not long haul, you'll be fine. I think it's 36 weeks most airlines refuse to take you but worth checking. I flew at 35 weeks, BA from uk to Berlin then did a 5 hr train ride (best friends wedding). Was tiring but not impossible.

BA told me that the check in assistant might ask how pregnant you are but will never insist on proof, I did take a copy of my hospital notes with due date on just in case. I was massive!!

You won't be allowed to sit near the emergency exits if you're pregnant either Smile

Thanks. It's easyjet so limit is 35wks and I'll still be 34 on flight home. Will take proof of due date though as massive already! Grumbling spd now and can't remember how painful it was by that stage first time round. Main worry is dealing with tired toddler in confined space without help!

Glad I'm not the only mad one contempting this. At least when you get there you might be able to get some rest if your mum will help with your little one.

I flew at 33-34 weeks. 3 hour flight was totally fine. Check the T&Cs of your provider to make sure you don't need a Fit to Fly certificate. I had to have one and just got it at my GPs.

Also check you have your EHIC card and insurance, then enjoy!

I would be more concerned about the possibility of a premature birth in a foreign country. That is probably a bigger consideration.
