First scan

This is DC2 but I can't remember from the first time round. Do you just get told when your scans are to be or do you have any say in the matter? For various irritating reasons it would be really useful for me if my first scan could be at 10+3. I've got all sorts of appointments and travel plans in weeks 11-13, though they are changeable, it would just be a pain. Am I likely to have any choice?

I think they need to be as close to 12 weeks as possible for measuring accurately.

If you think you're being inconvenienced now, wait till the baby is actually born! WinkGrin

It needs to be at least 11 for downs screening.

I had my first scan at 10+3 and had to go back as baby was too small for the downs screening at 12+1

We won't be having the downs screening so maybe it won't matter too much...I'll ask the midwife at my booking in appt.

Depends on your Trust, as well - I had my booking and scan at 8 weeks, no screening here so wasn't going to have another scan until 20 weeks, which is the official dating scan with my NHS Trust.

I had the nuchal privately so still had a scan at 12 weeks but my maternity hospital wasn't worried about my first scan being this early.
