Recommendation for decent maternity dress/posh outfit for wedding please

As the title suggests, we will be attending a family wedding in the Spring when I will be 6 months pregnant.
This is DC2 and with DC1 i was pretty big (looked normal from the back but from the front I looked like I had beach ball up my jumper!).
So, as none of my normal clothes have any chance of fitting by then please recommend somewhere I can get a decent maternity dress/outfit that will be suitable for a March wedding without me having to spend a lot!
Thank you!

You could try Tiffany Rose - I got a dress for a wedding from there. It is online but they deliver really quickly.

I bought an Isabella Oliver dress on eBay. They we're going for around £30-40 last spring when I was looking. They are a heavy jersey, slim fit, but really flattering, especially if you're all bump. They also come in lovely colours (as well as black if you're a wallflower!). Their sizes are numbers ... I think a 4 was a 14-26, but there's a guide on their website.

They often have deals on first hand too. I genuinely can't gush about them enough - by far the best maternity dresses I found!

If it's chilly (or a bit short!), M&S maternity tights are the best I believe.

At 6 months you might get away with a maxi dress though ... That would be much cheaper.

What about asos? They do some nice outfits at a reasonable price. I bought a few dresses from mamas & papas too. Good luck!!

Thank you for the quick replies ladies! I will get on the websites and have a look, not keen on ebay after some bad experiences but might try looking in charity shops for maternity or stretchy maxi dresses (don't know why I didn't think of that sooner!) and thanks for the M&S tights recommendation too!

New Look - hadn't thought of them, thanks jelly! Especially as I will probably only wear it once or twice so don't want to spend much

Seraphine definitely. They have a sale on at the moment so you might get a bargain. I've got the knot dress in royal blue too which is lovely and flattering (even now at 34 weeks!) but they also do a light blue one in that style with flowers on which might be really good for a spring wedding. I find their sizes are a bit on the large size so worth ordering a couple of sizes and styles and sending them back if they don't fit.

AlwaysDancing1234 · 29/12/2013 15:10

Blue is my favourite colour so will definitely have a look at Seraphine dress - thanks comfy and katatonic

Try Ghost. Their dresses stretch. I got married in one of their dresses when 7 months pregnant and have been able to wear the dress again as they shrink back down after a wash. Not cheap, but reuse able

AlwaysDancing1234 · 29/12/2013 16:37

Thanks slug, I guess I could always sell it on after use if I need to spend a few quid more to find a nice dress. It's also my DH birthday in May and we are having a big party so could wear it then as well to get my money's worth Smile

I second New Look maternity! Got a lovely dark green swishy lacy dress from them just before Christmas. Wasn't expecting great quality but it's actually lovely and hangs really nicely over bump. Plus very reasonable price:)

AlwaysDancing1234 · 29/12/2013 19:32

Thanks LittleLight and all of you. Who needs Gok??!!

Hello, check out the 'urban ruched dress' (think that was its name!) on the Isabella Oliver site. I loved mine and wore it to two weddings with a sparkly above-bump belt from Seraphine. Not cheap but felt a million dollars in it, will wear it again if I'm lucky enough to get pregnant a second time and could then always eBay it for a fair whack back. Grin

Misty9 · 29/12/2013 21:26

I've just bought a wrap dress from jojo in purple, for Christmas, and love it. It'll do breastfeeding too, so will get my money's worth. It's long sleeved but march isn't usually that warm anyway. Definitely recommend it. Wasn't as pricey as I thought it'd be either :)

Shroomboom · 29/12/2013 22:11

What about altering a dress you have already perhaps? I went to a wedding in November at seven months pregnant, and just got a seamstress to put in an extra panel underneath the layer of chiffon in the dress. Cost all of €30 Smile
I looked at buying something but it was all so expensive and I objected to paying that much for a dress I would literally only wear once!

clr2014 · 29/12/2013 22:14

Tiffany rose hands down.... And you willget your money back for it on ebay...

WeeTeaJenny · 29/12/2013 23:07

Asos x stylish and affordable x not big tents always nice versions of their standard lines plus free postage too x

thenightsky · 29/12/2013 23:09

I had to go to a buckingham palace garden party at 8 months. I hired a gorgeous dress and hat for much less than I'd have had to pay to buy a mediocre one.

HRMumness · 29/12/2013 23:14

Asos do a nice line in maternity dresses. I had a lovely long strapless number that I paired with a non-maternity jacket and wedges for a summer wedding when I was pregnant with DD. It was so nice I almost considered wearing it again when I wasn't pregnant.

AlwaysDancing1234 · 30/12/2013 00:40

Thanks everyone Smile

Also, nice maternity dresses tend to sell fairly well on eBay afterwards so you might get up to half of your money back if you wanted to do that.
