Does anyone own a Bugaboo Bee? I found one for a good price on Gumtree so am going to see it tomorrow. Is there anything in particular I should be checking or making sure works? I have no experience of prams!!

I have one and love it! Have had no probs with mine at all, check the obvious...wheel sticking, collapses ok etc but wouldn't anticipate any problems.

Exciting :) x

I thought the bee wasn't suitable from birth without the extra carrycot bit so worth checking that

Cariad007 · 29/12/2013 00:57

No, you can buy cocoon for the Bee and use it for newborns, scolding to the official site. In this case the owner is selling it with cocoon, sun shade and foot muff for £250 so it's quite a good deal. But part of me wonders if it's too good to be true! She's only had it 7 months and says it's still under warrenty with the original receipt but it's just that she's bought another pram.

According, not scolding!

Apparantly people buy prams and get rid for a basic one so prob isn't too good to be true

Iv just bought a stokke v2 I love it just hope I don't get rid of it haha xxx

HoHoHopelessAtNamingBabies · 29/12/2013 04:49

FedUp is right. I know countless people who sold bugaboo bees or iCandys (nobody seems to have anything else round here!) about six months in for lighter weight models like the city jogger, so probably not too good to be true!

The one thing I wish we had considered is the fact we planned to have more than one child. If I had my time again I'd have bought a Phil & Teds or similar which could be converted into a double with a double kit eventually. We have just ended up buying one for DC2s arrival as have everyone in my NCT second timers group!

Good luck - hope you like the buggy.

We have a bugaboo bee - love it!! It is suitable from birth - just get a baby cocoon.

The only downside is you can't fold it one handed while holding baby, which is why we also got a mclaren for the nursery run. The bee is still my favourite buggy though because its more comfy for her (and me to push), it has a bigger basket, and has a much better sun shade.

She is now 3 and we're expecting baby #2, will be holding into the bee. Will upgrade our mclaren though as we went for a very basic model and there will still be times that the smaller buggy will be handier (we use the bus a lot and I'll have both kids on my own, for example)

I wouldn't buy anything from a smoker.

Cariad007 · 29/12/2013 12:04

Its not from a smokers house. Though I'm having second thoughts now I've heard it can't be folded with one hand as we live in a first floor flat so I need to get it and baby up a flight of stairs.

Don't get a bugaboo bee if you need to fold and carry to a first floor flat every time. I liked ours as it is small and easy to steer, but found it terrible to fold. We've also had several problems with it and it's now broken. I got a baby jogger city mini and it is fab, really easy one hand fold. I wish I'd had it from birth.

Doctorbrownbear · 29/12/2013 12:21

There is a bee 09 and a bee plus. The bee plus' go for alot more as they are the recent model and are better with bigger seats etc. I would check the prices of each model as some people try it on and try to sell 09's at bee plus prices. They are great little pushchairs.

Cariad007 · 29/12/2013 12:36

Thanks SolomanDaisy. I've seen the City Mini and it was easy to fold but I really want something with a parent-facing option. Babyzen have a new Yoyo stroller coming out in Jan that can be used from birth and folds and assembles with just a flick of the wrist judging from what I've seen online, so I might wait and have a look at that.

SolomanDaisy · 29/12/2013 13:01

Ah yeah, forgot it doesn't do parent facing!

theborrower · 29/12/2013 15:10

Can you leave the buggy at the bottom of the stairs? We have always lived on the first floor, and we did this last time, although we did just share with one other flat and they didn't mind. We now share with 5 other flats and I'm not sure how keen they'll be. We may just have to bump up and down, or use a sling to get to ground floor if too bumpy.

lovetheseasons1 · 29/12/2013 18:30

I bought the Bee Plus new from John Lewis a few weeks ago for our newborn (then 4 weeks old). It's very lightweight and easy to steer. I like the cocoon (essential for new born) and parent facing model. As a previous poster said it is a little fiddly to fold and you do need two hands but I have found it is getting easier to fold with time. There's just a little knack to it. I love mine. Grin

I have a second hand bee, and it is brilliant, my only regret is not having it from birth.
