High white cell count and neutropenia - should I be worried?

I'm 31 weeks and had high blood pressure yesterday at work (work in a hospital) so was checked out. BP settled and no protein in urine but some bloods were done to check for signs of pre eclampsia. I looked today and have neutropenia and raised white cell count. Urine dip showed nothing but wondering why I might have these results. Assuming an infection somewhere? Has anyone else had this? Any ideas? I have a GP appointment Monday as 32 week check but now a little worried. Thanks x

Neutrophils are a subset of white blood cells so it's hard to be neutropaenic with a raised WCC. Have you read the results wrong?
If you are feeling well then suggest you don't try to overinterpret your own tests, but speak to your GP on monday.

to clarify, that's underlined because -penia means low.
If you have neutrophilia (elevated neuts) that can be normal in pregnancy (just one of those things) but if you're worried still speak to your GP

You can get into lots of trouble for looking up your own results. It will almost certainly have an audit trace.

And, as usmama said, you have likely read them incorrectly. Wait for your GP.

Sorry, I had to print them off and advised to by hosp MW as my GP is out of area to the hosp I work in. So the discharge letter was given to me but the bloods were not available until the following morning when I was working at a GP practice and not the hospital (so couldn't collected them).
If I have set off an audit trail it wasn't done in malice, just on advice and to give to my GP.
I am medical so not too worried as feel ok, I'm not looking at google or in my text books for answers. Was just wondering because as I said I feel ok.
Thanks for the answers

As above I have been investigated for neutropenia - that is a low white cell count - so it wouldn't follow you had a raised WCC and you are neutropenia.

EnlightenedOwl · 21/12/2013 09:44

sorry, neutropenic!

WBC 14 and neutrophils 0 on the screen and print out but maybe there was an error when the results were put on the system. I'll wait to see my GP Monday and see whether she wants to repeat them or leave it given I feel well in myself and the little one seems happy enough.
Thanks for your help

I suspect that's an error

Get your FBC repeated.
