I have never done much exercise(!) and am only walking for 30 minutes most days. I am 17 weeks. Is this enough? What are you doing?

I did loads of exercise with my first pregnancy, less with second (altho was still doing weights sessions at 30 weeks) and nothing but walking the dog this time. I feel best this time around and have gained the least weight (so far!)

Minithemoocher · 20/12/2013 19:24

I'm still dancing 3 times a week and doing yoga (but I've moved out of the hot class!) but it's early days for me yet. I'm very sleepy though. Yawn.

Doodle1983 · 20/12/2013 20:48

I am so lazy! I don't do any. I didn't before... I haven't really changed my figure either, just a 33+ bump at the front fortunately! And I keep forgetting pelvic floor... Agh... X

Very little, but then SPD stops me from even running a few steps without agonising pain. Not so helpful when my 2yo can outrun me! Have done antenatal yoga and doing another course after Christmas (24wks currently) and might start swimming when I finish work in January.

Looking after a two year old will be plenty enough exercise for me!

CranberrySaucyJack · 20/12/2013 21:51

I'm not doing any exercise at all now- other than the school run.

I was very active before pg, and I'm looking forward to getting back in the gym afterwards..... but right now there is nothing I want to do less.

NancyinCali · 20/12/2013 22:12

I'm going to start pregnancy yoga in the new year. And swimming. And definitely walking is good.

mssleepyhead · 20/12/2013 22:41

I've always cycled and plan to continue to commute by bike for as long as I can. I find it good exercise and most importantly enjoy it.

stopgap · 21/12/2013 03:53

I'm 35 weeks and at the gym 4-5 times a week and doing a mixture of slow running, cycling and weights. Sometimes I squeeze in a prenatal yoga class, too.

I lift almost the same weight as before pregnancy, but I run a lot slower, largely because I find that running at a decent pace pulls too much on my ligaments.

LastOneDancing · 21/12/2013 11:53

Ladylashes - I've only really found that one that I enjoy and doesn't make me feel like a huge un-glamorous lump Grin She does a 10 minute version of the same which is great if you just want a quick boost.

Glad it was useful though. If I find any I will update.

ladylashes · 21/12/2013 13:14

No worries LastOneDancing I will have a look on youtube and try a few out myself. Smile

SophieWilson · 06/01/2014 16:37

Eeeeek, after reading this I'm not sure I'm exercising enough.

dreamc1 · 06/01/2014 16:49

The only excerise I do is walking the dog 3 miles every morning (although haven't done that for a few weeks, holiday back in UK and too much pressure on my bladder at the moment until munchkin moves up a bit.) Housework and running around after my 20 mth old son. Although I'm having to slow down now as I get out of breath very quickly. I'm 20 weeks.

TwosaCrowd · 06/01/2014 18:57

I'm still horse riding.

Cariad007 · 06/01/2014 19:25

Well I am currently very annoyed as I walked all the way to the gym for Body Pump class and the moment I got there I realised that I'd left my trainers on my desk at work!!!

HazleNutt · 06/01/2014 19:28

I did quite a bit, also high intensity ones like Bodycombat and Tae Bo and was still teaching Bodypump 9 months pregnant. There were some horrified looks indeed, especially as the program at the time had jumps on and off the step bench in lunge track Grin
Can report that didn't have any aches or pains, short labour (DS shot out in 2 pushes) and very fast recovery. DS is happy and healthy.

I agree though, do not start anything new (except for special prenatal classes) if you have not done sports pre-pregnancy.

Cariad007 · 06/01/2014 19:53

HazleNutt that's good to hear as I am still doing Pump and Combat, although I go for the low impact options in the latter. The instructor also seems to think I'm fragile as tissue paper as he tells me not to do things like muay-thai knees (even though I'm still fine with them) and if I do as much as a jumping jack he immediately says I should march on the spot instead. I've been doing these classes for over 10 years - I know what I am capable of!!

ch1134 · 07/01/2014 05:36

Have always been very active and before pregnancy ran a half marathon. The hardest thing about pregnancy for me was exhaustion and inability to be as active. For ages I did very little. In the third trimester I've found some energy again, and am able to swim just as before, walk but not as far, and supplement this with pregnancy pilates DVD which I love. It's nothing compared to what I used to do but I keep telling myself that as I was so fit before that must have helped! Aside from tiredness I've had a very very easy pregnancy so just going with my bdy.

AnnaBanana25 · 07/01/2014 07:41

I'm a very occasional exerciser, the odd walk here and there, some swimming (rare), and will be going to pregnancy yoga now that I'm in my 2nd trimester.

My philosophy- make sure you enjoy what you do, don't feel guilty, and just do what you can when you do it. Same with diet. Moderation, for me, is the key, ive carried this on through pregnancy.

victoriahunt · 14/01/2014 15:21

I've always been very active with my passion being weight lifting. I'm still lifting no problems. There's a few exercises i've removed, basically anything anything flat, i.e. bench press which is now done on the incline. I've dropped a larger percentage on my squat and deadlift, focusing more on higher reps but am still lifting easily. My plan is to just adapt as I go along.
