Early pregnancy exhaustion

How do people manage it?! I'm around 8 weeks pregnant with baby number 4 and I can't remember it being so bad with the other 3. I'm working full time with an hours commute each way which probably doesn't help but I'm exhausted by dinner time and I have to force myself to stay awake on the train on the way home! I was in bed by 7.45 last night and slept through my alarm this morning! Does anybody have any tips on staying awake aside from propping my eyes open with toothpicks!

No tips but I'm the same at 7 weeks. Absolutely knackered. DD is in the process of dropping her afternoon nap and the days she doesn't have one (and therefore I don't get to sit on the sofa staring blankly into space for an hour) I'm pretty much asleep by 7.30. It can't last much longer, right?!

I'm 6 weeks pregnant and in the same boat. I don't have any tips to help you stay awake except to sleep as much as possible when you can. Giving in to the tiredness and having naps and early nights is making it slightly more bearable for me.

No help in afraid! I'm 5 weeks pregnant and already exhausted!! And very queasy, trying to think they're good signs....hard to enjoy feeling poorly though!! Smile

I had the same for about 6weeks. I could only get through a work day if I could escape for two or three toilet breaks where I could shut my eyes for 5-6mins!

I just wanted to say - I'm 12w+2 and have been significantly less tired the past two weeks. sadly the nausea ramped up to replace the tiredness but I guess you can't have everything!

Oooh I'm liking the hide in the toilets for 10 minutes idea! Knowing my luck though I'll fall into a full on 2 hour nap complete with snoring and dribbling!

Ah well, I've got 2 weeks off over Christmas so hopefully by the time I go back the exhaustion won't be so bad. Fingers crosses the sickness doesn't get worse though, I'm struggling to eat and drink as it is.

Mother Nature sure is a big mean bitch!! Grin

No real advice either I'm afraid but I feel your pain - I am 11 weeks and really struggling!
My employers knew I was pregnant very early on which has helped as they can understand when I'm feeling a bit exhausted, not that I have had any special treatment but its just easier not trying to hide it as well.
I found my worst time was about 3.30-6 pm - that sort of afternoon 'slump' so I have changed my hours from 9-5.30 to 8-4.30 so I go home and have a lie down on the sofa until DH gets home at about 6 which helps.
I am lucky that I only work a 5 min drive from home so I always go home for lunch to let the dog out and eat lunch at home. Most days I have a 15 minute lie down on the sofa and cuddle with the dog!
I've also been going to bed super early but I literally feel like I've done nothing for the last 6 weeks! I've barely cooked a single meal, the house is a tip and I've been so disorganised with christmas presents etc as I just feel like sleeping all the time in the evenings!
I didn't have any sickness at all in the beginning but the last week it has hit me - I just hope it doesn't stick around! I'm looking forward to the christmas break mainly so I can sleep all day Grin

No advice but huge respect - the full time work, commute etc with only one other child was tough enough...but with three!!

Have a super Christmas break OP, and a very well earned rest!
