Hi all,
I am 15 weeks pregnant with my second baby and am a natural worrier! My first baby weighed 8 pounds 3 ounces, so a fair size and my family all seem to have big babies (I myself was 8 pounds and my sister has 4 children, all were over 9 pounds and one weighed 11 pounds). When I saw the midwife yesterday she felt my stomach and said ooh your uterus is quite high already, you are measuring a week or two over. But she said this was nothing to worry about and that it can even itself out but if not that I would be monitored. She assured me that everything is fine and not to worry but i do worry about most things. I just wondered, when the midwife says you would be monitored if the baby stays measuring bigger...what does this mean? Sorry if i sound stupid, but what are you monitored for and at the worst what does this mean? Is this or can this be anything bad or does it basically mean that your baby can't be too big as it nees to be able to pass through the pelvis and is the midwife basically saying that if the baby gets to a huge size that you may have to have a c-section?
Any advice greatly appreciated, I guess what I am asking is, are the only concerns whether or not you are allowed to have the baby naturally? I hope this is all it is about, about the delivery of the baby and surely you aren't at risk of not being able to have your baby just because it may be big? The midwife did go on to say that it is better to have a big baby than one that is measuring too small.
