SPD Diagnosis

Got the diagnosis today. Tell me the truth, how bad is going to get?

Already got quite a bit of pain in bed and when on my feet for a period of time. Is this how it's likely to stay or will it get worse? I've been referred to a physio so hoping that will help.

How many weeks are you?
I had it at 20 weeks and got to an osteopath who made the pain go away entirely.
Then it returned at 33 weeks, osteo provided some relief, but had to go on crutches. Physio has helped a lot and the stretches they've suggested have been good. Once baby gets to a certain weight it can be a case of preventing it getting worse.
I'm now off crutches and able to walk around fine so there is hope. Nearly 37 weeks now.
Check the pelvic partnership website and if physio doesn't help I recommend osteopathy.

I think it's entirely variable and different for different people, sorry Sad

Mine started towards the third trimester, but I was carrying twins. The hospital physio gave me a couple of support belts to wear and also a giant tubigrip which was the most comfortable of the support belts. I ended up using crutches and basically was housebound from about the seventh month onwards.

I have heard other, worse cases, but it won't necessarily be the same for you. I hope your physio manages to give you enough support and get them to prescribe you pain meds too if you need them (I used tramadol, mainly at night when turning over was an absolute nightmare). My physio discussed various birthing positions too that would be less traumatic for an spd sufferer - make sure they don't put you in damaging positions.

I also bought a long body pillow and various wedge pillows to put between my knees and prop up my bump in bed, they helped tremendously. I still use the body pillow now, many years down the line.

Mine began at 30 week's I had really stingy pains with iton pubic bbone. Had a amazing physio who specialises in womens health and got exercises that helped also wore a belt consistently day and night still wear it sometimes now baby is 7 weeks. It's different for everyone. Stay positive I was really worried about giving birth with it and though it hurt a bit with contractions the actual pushing bit wasn't sore at all.

I'm 25 weeks at the moment and it started a few weeks ago. I guess I'll just have to see what the physio has to offer.

I was diagnosed a couple of weeks ago. I've been told i have to try a support belt for a couple of weeks before they even consider sending me to a physio.

I'm told with everyone its different however. Some people have just mild pain and are uncomfortable, some people end up on crutches.

Personaly i get most pain from sitting down too long in my work chair & standing up/walking around. Reclining and lying down make my symptoms ease off somewhat.

Nobody told me it had the potential to get that bad Hmm
