Please someone tell me if I'm over reacting! I found out a couple of weeks ago that I am pregnant! Told my employer, manager and deputy at work due to the work being heavey and thought they may of helped to make it easier etc... however nothing changed! I decided to leave last Wednesday as I thought it was too much, I was a cook in a nursery, cooked for 100 kids on my own, no help! When I told management I was pregnant I asked them not to say a word to another members of staff due to past bad experiences, and I said I will tell people in my own time especially my my family (there is a member of partners family who also works at nursery and they r the sort to tell everyone before me that's also why I didn't want colleagues to know)! They agreed and said they understood! However eventhough I left the nursery, my 3 year old little girl still attends for her nursery education which is the 15hrs, as she loves going and I wouldn't want to pull her out, however today she came home n asked if I had a baby in my tummy and when will it be hear? I am really upset at the thought of them telling members of staff after agreeing they wouldn't until I was ready, even more upset that someone has mentioned it to my daughter! I trusted them and feel really hurt by this! How would you go about this? Can they get wrong for this?

Hey

  1. They should of done a risk assessment
  2. I'd ring citizens advice they can get done for telling people

I'd be so angry xxxx

Not right. Speak to citizens advice. You should have a risk assessment done. And why can't people keep their mouths shut!

Sounds like poor treatment, sorry you're having to endure it.
Unfortunately the employer is only legally bound to do a risk assessment when the pregnancy is confirmed in writing - have you done that? I think they then have a certain number of days in which to complete a risk assessment and make any adjustments.
