8 weeks, early scan showed heartbeat but measured 6 weeks

Can anyone help, I had an internal scan today due to some brown spotting. Showed a heartbeat which I was so pleased about, but the Dr said I was measuring at 6 weeks.

I'm sure of my dates for my last LMP, ovulation might be out by a couple of days but not enough to put me back 2 weeks.

Anyone had experience of this? We were thinking of telling close family at Christmas but now not so sure. Help!

I had a scan at what was supposed to be 8 weeks by the date of my last period, but when they did the scan they said I was only measuring 6 weeks and 1 day and they couldn't find a heartbeat. I'm really worried now. I've had no bleeding and I did a pregnancy test as soon as I got home and again first thing in the morning and they both came up positive. Just did another one and another positive result. I'm really confused as there is no heartbeat detected.Has anybody else had an experience like this?

Rosie I'm afraid positive tests don't really mean anything at this stage. They detect quite low levels of HCG that can stay in your system weeks after a completed miscarriage. If you are sure of your dates and got a positive four weeks or so ago then I'm afraid it's likely you've miscarried. There is a chance that you ovulated nearly 2 weeks later than you thought but that only really holds if you got your positive less than 3 weeks ago.
