Just wondered how likely it is tHat baby could turn?

Has anyone had experience of baby being transverse this late (or later) and turning? Is there anything I can do to encourage baby to turn?

I have one dd who is 2 and she was already head down quite a but before this.

DD2 was transverse at 36 weeks and turned herself shortly afterwards. The midwife said at the time that it was more common in second (and subsequent) pregnancies than in your first. DD2 was 11 days late in the end, though, so at 36 weeks she still had a while to go, even if I didn't know it at the time!

I do remember being a very odd shape, though, especially when I was lying down Grin.

Oh thanks. What sort of shape were you if you don't mind me asking?

It's a while ago - DD2 is 14 now - but instead of having an rounded bump on the front I had a flatter, disc-shaped bump with lots of movement on its lower right side where her feet were. There were noticeable lumps for head and bottom at my forearm height.

Anyone else have any experience of this? I'm worried that this will mean a c section for sure as it's quite late in pregnancy?

DS was an unstable lie including transverse until about 34 weeks I think. One day I felt him do a massive turn and he shifted head down and stayed that way.

One of mine went from transverse to head down at around 37 - 38wks.

I was advised to spend as much time as possible on all fours to encourage the baby to turn.

am 34+6 and told today that she is breeched. this is my first. doc give me two options. they can try to turn her or section. am not really up for the whole turning thing just not for me. have to go back next week with my decision. doc thought it unlikely she'd turn at this stage however reading prev comments she still can. am goin to opt for section and go with the flow pray to god she turns last min.

Am 40+5 now, and baby was still transverse until 37 weeks. I tried a bit of baby spinning and moxibustion but wasn't happy with the idea of having it manually turned. Luckily when I went for a scan at 37+2 s/he had flipped itself, withoute even realising.

Fingers crossed that yours turns itself- still plenty of time

My dd was transverse till 37 Weeks. She managed do turn despite sharing a womb with her twin bro! It was a bit annoying cos I was all prepared for the c section and then they said 2 days before it that I could go natural if I wanted. I stuck to the c. And out was wonderful.

33 weeks and baby still seems to be shifting between breech and transverse. My MW told me we won't worry until 36 weeks, there are a bunch of positions you can adopt (have a look at spinningbabies.com) but I haven't been very good at doing them so far...

My dd was transverse till I was 38 weeks, I had a section at 38+2 but not due to this. Dd weighed in at 10lb 9ozs, I must admit her turning was not the most pleasant of experiences and it took about 30 mins, bump looked very funny :). She was also my second baby and I did have excess amniotic fluid, so I am assuming that helped.

DD1 was transverse until about 35 weeks, then she turned. This was rather unfortunate as I had placenta praevia so needed a CS anyway. She had managed to get wedged and the consultant had to use forceps during the caesarean section to get her out!
