mild nausea is putting me off most food and drink - what to do?

Im 6 + 3 weeks and have mild nausea pretty much constantly which is putting me off food and drink

I used to be really good about eating a very good varied diet and drank lots of water and now the thought of most food is unappealing and whenever I do eat its total rubbish like white bread and crisps because I know I must rather than not eat anything but I have to really force myself. Im more worried as I used to drink lots of water and tea and now both I can't stomach

Is this normal for just over 6 weeks and does anyone have any suggestions?
The only drink I can stomach is orange juice but I am worried about all that sugar and my poor teeth if that is the only thing I can stomach!

I'm afraid it's normal and me and most other pg women I know have gone through a few weeks of bland, beige and starchy only diets. Bread and crisps sound about normal.

If you can't stomach flat water, try getting some sparkling water and making a spritzer with the orange juice, you might be able to stomach that.

I really struggled with water when I was pg. I switched to weak cordial with water which did the trick.

Use a straw for the sugary drinks. I hope this doesn't get worse for you...just eat what you can.

I've been struggling with nausea since about 4 weeks but the thing that helps is eating! Toast, cereal, potatoes, pasta have all helped because they keep hunger at bay a while longer - if I go more than 2 hours between eating I feel pukey, so have to eat. I've always got a cereal bar in my bag too.

That said, I'm nearly 11 weeks and coming out the other side - been feeling loads better this week. Hope I've not jinxed it by saying that! But just to reassure you that it (mostly) doesn't last forever.

thanks everyone for your replies - that's reassuring to hear Im not the only one whos surviving on white toast!

Great advice re drinks - thanks for that - Ive bought some lemons and am going to try that with some water which I just can't handle on its own - so odd as I used to drink this by the pint before pg

have straws too so will try this - thanks everyone :)

I had the same feeling, but could only stomach fruit, such as grapes and melon, and very very cold water. Lasted until about 16 weeks, I lost 5kg, am now 37+3 and fine if you ignore the constant aches and need to pee.

This too shall pass. A good antenatal vitamin will take care of any baby-related needs for nutrition, at least for now.

Just eat what you can, it's better than nothing! When I was preg with my dd last year for breakfast lunch and dinner I would have waffles (the frozen potato kind) with baked beans.... For 9 months..... She's fine Wink
