Do I need vaccinations for Dubai?

I'll be travelling to Dubai in February 2014 (for holiday). I'll be 21 weeks pregnant then. We planned this trip assuming it's safe to go there while pregnant but I hadn't actually checked it.
Do I need any vaccinations? Is it ok to travel there in pregnancy?

Ive been to Dubai and didn't need vaccinations. Check with your GP first though.

No injections needed and food hygiene is pretty good, certainly in hotels and restaurants in malls. I lived there on and off for 8 years and never had an issue.

If you're living there they recommend Hep A, but not for visitors.

Another thought. There is good medical care in Dubai but it's mostly private, so if you're going to be 21 weeks, just make sure you have appropriate health insurance cover. At least in Feb, the temperatures will be cool - 25c so you shouldn't be troubled by too much heat.

Hi, no you don't. But please be careful; i.e are you married? If something went wrong with the pregnancy (I'm sure it wont), but you would I believe be in a lot of trouble, this is not the place to be pregnant & unmarried, whether you live here or are on holiday.
The temp here at the mo is around 18oc in the morning, and around 26/27 during the day.

Thank you ladies! I'll double check with my GP but this sounds reassuring. Yes, I'm married and will be travelling with my husband. However, we have different surnames (I've kept mine). Do I need to take a marriage certificate, just in case?

Good idea to take a marr cert, but arabic ladies tend to keep their own name on marriage so unlikely that anyone will question it unless you have a problem.

If your GP reads some sources, they suggest malaria tabs are needed but this is only if you are going into the wild desert.

You'll have a great time. Went as part of our honeymoon and loved it. You definitely dont need vax- the place is so immaculate, not a mosquito in site either, i'd say they'd find a 'way' to banish them miles out from the coast if they hit!

Where are you staying?

Chocolatemolehill · 13/12/2013 17:17

It all sounds very reassuring!

We are staying in a small hotel (also an art gallery!) in a pedestrianised area (old town?) first and then in a more typical, big hotel.

Can't wait to go and get some sunshine!

Just a quickie, there are mossies around now its cooler.

Chocolatemolehill · 13/12/2013 17:55

dreamc1 - but it's not a malarial zone so the mossies are more annoying rather than dangerous, right?

Also pack some cardies desert nights are cool at mo

dreamc1 · 14/12/2013 04:37

Not that I'm aware of. My son was bitten so many times this time last year, he's fine! I'm usually covered in bites. Yes, just rather annoying.
