Hand foot and mouth while pregnant....

I have a DD who is 2.5 yrs and has brought home hand foot and mouth back from nursery, DP has since had it ( to the point he couldnt walk because of the blisters on his feet) and i thought i had managed to miss it......untill today.....ive had the sore throat/swollen glands (not so much of the fever) and now i have red blotches on my hands...

I rang NHS direct or whatever they are called (111) when my daughter came home with it and they said that because i was past the 12 week post that i dont have to worry (im 19+4 today) but i just wanted to know if anyone on here has had it while pregnant.

my advice is what i was told by the midwife is to get anything checked out by a doctor or appropiate agency to put your mind at rest/ rule out anything serious. im surprised 111 were not of the same opinion because thats the general rule for pregnancy, to err on the side of caution...

I googled this recently because a friend had it. NHS advice online is no risk to pregnancy past 12 weeks and very minimal risk before that. So try not to worry. I'd probably call my own midwife anyway, simply to have a professional tell me not to worry.

I've had it, no probs as all. My older child also had it when I brought baby back from hospital and she didn't get it. Altho lovely pics of him touching beautiful clean new born with disgusting blistering puss filled fingers.

thanks guys, i thought i was pretty safe but just wanted to see if anyone has had it, its just annoying really i thought i'd escaped it but clearly not,at least i dont have to go to work for a few days after tomorrows shift so can deal with it without being stared at (nothing obvious yet and we dont get sick pay so cant afford a day off)

but thank you.....good ole mumsnet :)

I understood it could be problematic in the first trimester and right at the very end of pregnancy, so your DD's timing is pretty good...
